Well folks, it’s almost that time of the year again. Halloween! I mean, come on, I don’t even have to tell you. Just turn on the television or go in your local Walmart or CVS store. You’ll see Halloween advertisements everywhere you look. But really, can you blame them? If I had to choose a favorite holiday, I would easily say Halloween comes at like number two. I don’t know, it’s just something about it that makes me feel excited. Maybe it’s because I love things that deal with the supernatural or mystery that gets me pumped. I remember as a kid my mom would take me trick or treating almost every year and right after I would go watch a scary movie while devouring my candy. Unfortunately, we all had to grow up sooner or later and we had put an end to our trick or treating. But my question is: Does that mean we can’t enjoy Halloween anymore? I mean sure, as young adults we obviously can’t go around wearing are favorite superhero costumes like we did when we were kids. But that doesn’t mean we still can’t have a great time. Well folks have no fear (no pun intended) because I am here to tell you three ways college kids can still enjoy Halloween.
1.) You can watch a ton of scary movies
As college kids, we tend to get distracted by schoolwork, Facebook, or who’s throwing the next big party. But for Halloween, let’s try and forget about that for just one night. Here’s what you do: call up your friends, tell them to bring snacks, and just sit around watch scary movies. I know some of you might already do that, but this is the night where you can do it and not feel ashamed about not having a social life. So eat junk food, laugh, and watch scary movies that scare the crap out you until four in the morning.
2.) Do something scary and fun with your friends!
If you don’t want to stay in and watch scary movies, go and try something adventurous with your friends. You can go visit an abandoned house or go to those haunted asylums that pay to enter. Now any other day I would say “hell no” to these ideas, but what the hell, it’s a holiday. Also when you do these things, you have to make sure it’s at nighttime. Don’t be a punk and say to your friends, “Maybe we should go in the daytime when it’s not that scary”. Stop being a punk and just live in the moment. I mean think about it, if you’re going to do something fun on Halloween, you got to make sure it’s at the perfect time of the night, am I right?
3.) Throw a Halloween themed party
Now I know what you might be thinking, “Halloween parties are so old now”. Well, maybe, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have a little fun at them. It’s all about how many people you invite and how much fun you guys have. Personally I love Halloween parties because I get to see all the weird ass costumes people decide to dress up in. You see things go from slutty cat costumes to old movie characters that we loved years ago. Last year I dressed up as Bill Cosby and everybody loved it. I was even doing impersonations of him too. Although I might want to avoid that costume this year because I don’t want girls giving me any dirty looks. But the point is, the more creative you are with the costume, the better.
