We made it. We have officially put another year (for some of us, our first year) of college behind us. I think we can all agree that it was gone in the blink of an eye, but after two full semesters full of library all-nighters, woodsers, six page single spaced papers, bubba keg creating, interviews, philanthropies, formals, and lack of sleep, I think we can also all agree that we could use a break. We have four months of freedom ahead of us, and what we choose to do with them is all up to us. Chances are your idea of the perfect summer will be one of the following.
1. Summer C
For you, the perfect summer is void of sunny beaches or home-cooked meals, but it's jam packed with good times. Why would you ever spend four months away from the greatest place on Earth?! Your FOMO would just be too much to bare if you saw a single one of your friend's snapchat story of a frat party, bar hop, or, worst of all, a picture of a pizza by the slice. Getting some easy classes out of the way AND never parting ways with your beloved college life? Down. You'll sleep when you're dead.
2. Back Home Baller
Make no mistake, you're a huge fan of a good dayger and pre-ing the pregame for Midtown, but home is calling your name. Regardless if you live within a five mile radius of the beach, an exciting big city, or a small town where there's nothing to do, you know your summer will be awesome because you're a Back Home Baller. Your parents will be so psyched you're staying home for a while, chances are you'll be treated like royalty. As a bonus, this means goodbye to dining halls and Jimmy Johns and hello to home-cooked meals every night. Pick up a few shifts at your high school job, hit the gym, the mall, maybe even that new art museum your mom has been wanting to check out. Soon enough you won't even miss taking pulls from the communal handle and scrambling to finish MyMathLab.
3. Go-Getter
Some may call it "overachieving" but you know that four months without classes won't go by without you making power moves toward your dream career. You've locked down the perfect internship, single-bedroom apartment, and a closet full of business casual pantsuits to replace those high waisted shorts and crop tops. When you return to school in August, you'll have a wide range of new skills and new experiences, as well as another line on your already highly impressive resume. You might even have to erase the Most Outstanding Student Award from 8th grade to make more space for all the things you did this summer. Props to you.
However you decide to spend the next few months, remember to make them count. Although Fall may seem years away, summer will be over before we know it. Make sure your answer to "how was your summer?" won't just be "it was okay." These fleeting months of freedom won't last forever!
