3 Truths About Small Town Breakups
Tips of Divorce

Breakups are an everyday occurrence that most people will experience at one point or another. For those who have had to go through a breakup, you know the pain that comes along with separation. For those who have had to go through a breakup in a small town, you know that pain is significantly multiplied, due to the simple fact that you can only run so far in that two-mile town. Here are three truths to breaking up in a small town:

1. The word really does travel fast.

The minute you change your Facebook profile picture from one of you and your boyfriend/girlfriend to one of you and your friends, EVERYONE notices. Your father, sister and neighbor's cousin are all ears, in hopes of getting in on the latest gossip. Suddenly, your problems are the talk of the town.

2. Everywhere you look, you will find something that reminds you of that person.

With all the talk about the breakup, keeping your mind off your previous love becomes an impossible task. As you drive through town, you cannot help but to be reminded of what you feel you are left without; every song, all the people and each place will remind you of that one person. You find a piece of them anywhere and everywhere.

3. You've got to move or move on.

Sam Hunt's song, "Break Up In A Small Town," could not be more true. Being confined in a town with minimal space and lots of nosy people, makes for a tough timespan after your breakup. You start to feel like you can never get away from all the talk about who ended things and who your ex is with now. You can never escape from the fact that your significant other has moved on, and chances are it is with an acquaintance. I guess you could move away, but running from your problems is never a good thing. You could try moving on yourself, but that is not always as easy as it sounds.

The thought of the one you love, or once loved, being with someone else, is absolutely heartbreaking. When you are stuck inside a little town, you are constantly reminded of that heartbreak when you see the two of them together. However, breakups are all something that you go through and you get through and you move past in life. That's just life. Whether you break up in a small town or a big city, it is not going to be easy for anyone. But they say time heals everything, so I'll give it some more time.

XO and best wishes,

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
