We've all had a bad roommate or a bad experience with living situations, especially in college. Your place of residency is where you spend quite a chunk of time. Choosing who to spend all of that time with can be intense considering the fact that living together can cause tension. When I was proposed the question of whether or not to live with my best friends I was at a crossroads but then again — who else would I live with?
Living with your best friends can either be the best thing ever or it can be detrimental to your friendships. It can be scary to take the plunge and sign a lease not knowing the outcome of it all. However, even though living with your best friends will have its ups and downs, the ups most certainly outweigh the downs.
1. It's like a constant sleepover.
Watching movies and painting each other's nails has been taken to a whole new level. Living with your best friends is like a sleepover every single night, minus the fact that you now can sleep in your own cozy bed in your own cozy room.
2. You've got double the wardrobe.
Nothing says benefits of living with your best friends like borrowing each other's clothes. If you have a very important date and you need a blouse to wear with the new skirt you just bought, you can just waltz right over to your best friend's/roommate's closet and find something to match. But make sure to ask first because the downs will outweigh the ups if you start borrowing all your roommate's clothes without asking and then you'll go back to just one sad little wardrobe.
3. Your living space is going to look like uh-mazing.
Your best friend's your best friend for a reason, because you all think the same stuff is cute and that all the same stuff is ugly. So you will be able to put your heads together and make your new living environment look like totally cute.
4. You'll never be alone.
Now that you live with two or three more people, the number of times you will be alone will be scarce. When you need someone to talk to, you have someone. When you need someone to run to Taco Bell with you, you'll have someone there. Coming home from a bad day at work or school gets a lot better because all of your best friends are there to make you turn that frown upside down.
5. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
As we grow old and starts families of our own after college, living with your best friends isn't likely to happen. It is important to take the opportunity while you have the chance because the real world after college could pull you all apart, making you wish you would've taken the chance and lived with your best friends.
