I have had the pleasure of growing up in a family of four girls. I have two older sisters and one younger sister. When most people hear me describe my family, they always jump to conclusions and say “oh your poor father” or “wow it must be miserable having so many girls in one house.” When I hear people say things like this, I wish that for just one minute they could live in my shoes. I wish they could see how amazing having three sisters truly is. Now, I’m not going to try and claim that growing up with three girls was always picture perfect, in fact, for the longest time it was difficult for us to have family gatherings without us bickering, however, over the last few years, we have all increasingly become closer.
While growing up in a family with all sisters could be difficult when we were younger, and I may have always secretly wished that I could trade at least one of my three sisters for a brother, I can no longer imagine having anything but my three sisters.
My sisters provide me with a constant support system. Whether I’m dealing with anything from friend issues, to struggling with school, or even just needing someone to talk to and a shoulder to cry on, I know that my sisters will always be there for me. They have proven to me time and time again that they are always there to cheer me on during the tough times and congratulate me during the best of times. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to think of my sisters as my best friends. They are the ones that will always be there for me. Girls can be tough, and having built in best friends in life is something that I will always be thankful for.
Not only do my sisters provide me with continual support, they also provide me with a whole entire closet full of clothes for when I get tired of my own. While it can be frustrating when your favorite shirt goes missing and ends up in your sister’s dorm room in another state, it is amazing to be able to borrow each other’s clothes. It is always exciting on birthday’s and Christmas when one of us gets a cute outfit because we know it will soon be up for grabs for another to borrow.
As we all get older and move on through life, it is sad to no longer have all three of my sisters living under one roof, however, I know that I can contact them all at any moment. Our sister “dates” are very enjoyable and always leave me looking forward to the next time that we are all together.
Having all sisters is one of the best gifts that I was ever given. My sisters have been here through everything, and I look forward to continuing to experience life with them, and of course, borrow their clothes.
