Save A Girl Child

Over half of the world's population is made up of girls, yet girls are still viewed as a minority group. Obviously, this is not due to the fact that there are fewer women than men. It is because societies around the world are socially constructed with the idea that men are more powerful, respected and educated. This ideology is enforced, therefore it becomes true. The thing that everyone should know is that, women could save the world; they are one powerful force of change.

1. Women in the Economy.

Women are just over one-half of the potential human capital in the world. Women, worldwide, make up about 40 percent of the workforce. According to a study done by McKinsey Global Institute, the global GDP could increase by almost $12 trillion dollars if women's equality increased in the workplace. In the United States alone, the economy would be about 11 percent smaller if there had not been an increase in the employment of women in the past 30 years. Women have made a major impact in global economy and will only continue to benefit it.

2. Dealing with Climate Change.

Women are more accepting to the existence and more willing to make a change when it comes to the debate of climate change. On average, women use 22 percent less energy than men do. Also, water projects that are conducted by women are typically six to seven times more productive than one conducted by a man according to a World Bank evaluation.

3. Lowering Mortality and Curing Diseases.

In countries that women are better educated, death from disease is more scarce. More educated girls leads to less infant death, lower rates of HIV/AIDs and less malnutrition among children. This is the effect of a girl having a higher education -- the more educated you are the less impoverished you are. Women are better suited to take care of their children when they have more money which helps combat mortality and disease.

Investing in women across the globe would be a profiting, valuable and rewarding decision. Today, there are still nearly 65 million girls who are not allowed to go to school. This number does not include those who are being provided a very poor quality education. We need to come together, to battle this number and ensure girls a fair shot at life. Girls could run the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
