3 Reasons I Believe I Am On My Way To Becoming A Butterfly

"Perhaps the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness yet become something beautiful."

Butterflies are among the most beautiful creatures on Earth. But before they gained their wings, they had to transform themselves from the little caterpillars they were. It's crazy to think that a caterpillar, something so small, can become something so beautiful. I think caterpillars and butterflies can relate to humans as well.

1. Many times I've been in the dark and wondered how I was going to crawl back out.

There have been many instances in my life where I have wondered if things were ever going to get better. I've struggled with self-confidence, bullying, comparing myself to others, deaths of family members, and many more trials in life. I wondered if this was how my life was going to be. Were these struggles going to consume my life? With the help of great friends, even better family members, and faith, I managed to regain myself and slowly, but surely, I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I knew that I couldn't let the darkness consume who I was as a person and turn me into something I wasn't. Caterpillars are surrounded by darkness inside their cocoon, but they come out more beautiful than ever.

2. A big part of my life is dedicated to helping others.

Butterflies are helpful in the pollination of plants. I believe that I am helpful in pollinating happiness among others. For as long as I can remember, I have always been the type of person that loves to see others happy. I remember one day in high school, I was sitting at lunch with all my friends and I looked over and saw another student sitting by himself. I also knew that this was a kid that didn't have many friends and got bullied. I felt as though it was my duty to get up from my group of friends and go make a new one. I went over and sat with him for the remainder of lunch, and we had a great discussion. I don't know how this made him feel, but that day, I felt like I had done something right. I hoped that I had made his day a little brighter. I know that by sitting with him that day, my day was brighter. Knowing that I can change a person's life, even just for a few minutes, is really what makes me happy.

3. I'm crawling up the tree of life, waiting to gain my wings.

All of the struggles I've faced have helped me become the person I am today. There have been many bad parts in my life, but those aren't what I need to focus on. There have also been many great times in my life, and although it seems like the bad outweigh the good, I can't let the downfalls of life defeat my climb. I'm still a work in progress and I know that, but I believe that if I continue to have faith in myself, great things will transpire. It may take awhile, but I know that with faith, hard work, and dedication, I will become the beautiful butterfly that I am intended to become.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
