For those paying attention to the political scene, you may have just noticed that the Democratic Party has finally finished picking their nominee. This comes a few weeks after the Republicans chose theirs. According to most news channels, the upcoming general election will be between Trump and Clinton. Like past elections, it is portrayed as Democrat vs Republican, a red vs blue fight just like the lenses in the old 3-D glasses in a country where its first elected Presidential leader warned us about the power political parties could wield. An article from the Washington Times states, "America is at the mercy of two powerful political parties. If a strong candidate wants to get elected to office in this country, one usually needs some affiliation to the major parties." This is one thing our nation's first great leader was worried about. The power the Democratic and Republican parties wield allows them to force a candidate onto the public without any acknowledgement to others outside of the two parties. Why is it that America is also forced to choose, as Epic Rap Battles of history put it in one of their Presidential election videos, "the shiniest of two turds." Both the current candidates have a history in one way or another that can be described as either "disgusting," "dirty" or "unbecoming of someone that should be allowed in the presidential office."

Mr. Trump is a candidate whose talks can be described as hate speech or patriotic depending on how you look at things. His campaigns have been the most unorthodox of the past four Presidential elections, as he has no political background, and his experience is only what he has learned as an American citizen and as a businessman. For someone to take the Republican nomination by storm like this gives one the idea that it doesn't take a background in politics to win an election. However, his lack of political experience comes out in his numerous mistakes he makes when he or his campaign manage to insult a group or person. His comments about anyone who portrays him in a negative light are inappropriate at the minimum and unbecoming and insulting at the worst. In the role a President takes, this could lead to damaging relations with other countries.

Mrs. Clinton has a wealth of political experience to draw from, in stark contrast to her Republican opponent. Her campaign has described it as a milestone for women with her nomination to a "major" party. The reason they say major party is because Victoria Woodhull, back in 1872, won the first ever nomination for women alongside Fredrick Douglas, a freed slave. In more recent time, Jill Stein has twice won the nomination for the party she belongs to, The Green Party. Clinton's political experience can also be a drawback, as her many years of public service come with its share of bad decisions and flip-flopping views. Her most recent being the emails regarding sensitive information on National Security. Dailymail, a British news agency reported that an FBI investigation found 2000+ documents that fit into that sensitive information category that was on Clinton's unsecured server, she deleted 32,000 emails before they could be accessed by the FBI, deeming them "personal."

With the two candidates picked by our two largest parties, it's a wonder how either of them have managed to win the nomination. The American people are being forced to see only what the red and blue lenses are allowing them to see. In effect, limiting the Presidential race and preventing critical information that could deter voters from picking outside the two choices forced upon the American public.
