Every once in a while, there is a song that comes on the radio that you have no idea who it's by. You've heard the song a thousand times, but you don't know who made it. When you look up the band, you realize that you've never heard of the band before. Most people leave it there. They might learn what band sings a song they like, but most never look the band itself out. I think this is a disservice to some really solid bands, so I would like to point out three bands that have some very solid songs besides the ones that you might hear on the radio.

1. American Authors

The American Authors is one of my favorite bands. Even as I write this article, I'm listening to their What We Live For album. I only recently picked this album up, but their debut album Oh, What a Life has been playing in my car for a long time. Most people know this band for the well overplayed song "Best Day of my Life." Any time I talk to people about the American Authors, they assume that this is their only song. That is horribly wrong, though. Songs like "Believer," "Oh, What a Life," "Luck," "What We Live For," and "Born to Run" are all phenomenal. In addition, on the Oh, What a Life album, there is an acoustic version of "Best Day of my Life" that is very much worth checking out.

2. Fun.

Although Fun. has a few more hits than American Authors, it is still a relatively unknown band. For those that don't know, Fun. is the band that performs "Some Nights," "We Are Young," and "Carry On." All three of these songs blew up the charts back in 2012, but the band itself received little recognition beyond these songs. That's a shame because their Some Nights album is very solid. Songs like "Why Am I the One," "All Alone," and "All Alright" are solid pieces in their own rights. Some people might be put off by the excessive autotune that this band uses, but I really recommend them. The intro song to the album is so perfect and sets up the album perfectly. Just be warned that they do use explicit language.

3. Twenty One Pilots

Okay, okay, let me explain. I know that this band has an incredibly large and vocal fanbase that can be annoying at times. I know that their songs are ridiculously overplayed on the radio. I even know that some of you might never want to hear of this band again. But give them a chance. I've long been confused as to why "Ride" is the song that is currently played on the radio. In my opinion, it is not even close to this band's best song. Personally, two of my favorite songs by Twenty One Pilots are "Truce" and "Goner," the ending songs of their albums Vessel and Blurryface respectively. My favorite song by the band, though, is "Migraine." This song is such an honest look at a mind that is filled with depression and anxiety. I love that this song explores topics that aren't often spoken about in a serious manner. In the end, I really recommend this band's full track list, not just their popular songs. They have so many more good songs than just "Stressed Out" and "Ride."

What do you think? Are there any bands that you like that aren't all that popular? I'd like to hear about them. Leave a comment below, and I'll check it out.

For this week, I was listening to the American Author's song "What We Live For." Enjoy:

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
