They are not a bad thing.

I have had many people ask me why I get tattoos and they tell me they are "bad." Here is the thing though: people get tattoos for different reasons, but one thing they all have in common is that they are all a piece of art that tells you something about that person if you look hard enough or just ask (because people like to talk about their tattoos).

So here is my tattoo story along with why I got them, and my future ones.

The very first

This was the first one I got during my senior year of high school. I have always had this love for the moon — there is just something about it. I was on the search one day for my first tattoo and I came across this picture on Google and I knew this was going to be my first one. Even though I can't see this one all the time, I love it! The shading on it is awesome and I have had many people tell me that they like it and that they think it is really cool.

Graduation gift

My second tattoo was what I got as a graduation gift. This one is on the outside of my ankle and I was not expecting the pain that happened. This is a dandelion and when I was younger, I used to pick these all the time blow on them and make a wish. But as I got older I started to think of the dandelion in a different way. Yes they are seen as something you make a wish on, but also dandelions are usually peoples least favorite "flower" but somehow it still returns sometimes in the same place sometimes in different places. So the way I look at this is to keep wishing for what you want but also being strong even when it seems like you aren't wanted.

They just keep coming

The rumors are: true once you get one, you just keep on getting them. And yes this one is behind my ear and no it did not hurt.

The three birds are for my three siblings, Why birds? Birds are wild and free, which are my siblings. But also most birds stay in some type of group, and if they leave for a bit they always find their way back to the group. Since me and my siblings don't live full time together, but when we are all together it is like we were never separated in the first place. Just like the birds.

The two person tattoo

Me and my sister both have this tattoo on our ankles and this one hurt bad since it goes right over the bone.

We wanted to get a matching tattoo so we searched on Pinterest for days making a collection of ideas and then coming back together and picking out which ones would be good fits. We wanted something with a heart but why the feather I am not completely sure but we both really liked it and agreed on it and placement. This one doesn't have a really deep meaning that needs an explanation other than it is a tattoo that I share with my sister.

Memorial

This one should be self explanatory. Cancer sucks and it is stupid.

Pink — Breast cancer

Blue — Colon cancer

Orange — Blood cancer (Leukemia)

Teal — Ovarian cancer

White — Lung cancer

Personal

If you don't know what the semi colon stands for its for mental illness.

Birds = Freedom

Music = Distraction

Mental illness sucks and I know to many people deal with it, which includes myself.

The next one

I love the ocean so I just need a ocean tattoo right?

So just imagine this on or around my hip with the trees, a dolphin jumping out of the water and then maybe having the moon somewhere and maybe some birds in the background.

Siblings

This isn't the exact one, and we wont know the exact one until the three year old turns 18.

But just having something small and simple that can be a sibling experience would be really cool.

Will this be the 8th?

Turtles are awesome ocean creatures and they travel in groups and they eat jelly fish and it makes them "high." I have a couple ideas for this one — it could either show growth from being small and growing, or it could symbolize family. But I'm not really in that time in my life for starting that.

One I have always wanted

I have wanted to get this on my left arm because love with always be infinite. This one could easily have color or something added to symbolize kids whenever that comes into my life because the love for your kids will always be infinite.

So just remember if someone gives you crap for tattoos just remember they are for you and no one else.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
