Go camping, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

29 Thoughts Of A High-Maintenance Girl Before A Camping Trip

1. Camping can’t be that hard. Everyone else does it, so why can’t I?!

2. All right, I am a little nervous, but it’s not like I really have any reason to be.

3. I slept in a tent on the beach in front of my lake house one time. If I can do that, I can camp anywhere, right??

4. Wait -- I ended up sneaking in the house when everyone went to sleep didn’t I? Ugh.

5. Ok, well I was still exposed to the camping experience. I was in that tent for like five hours. I’m so prepared.

6. When they went camping in "The Parent Trap" it seemed like a lot of fun. I always thought Hallie Parker and I had a lot in common.

7. That camping trip went smoothly and they were only like 10 years old. Aside from that lizard that went in Meredith’s mouth.

8. Oh my god, what if there are lizards.

9. Ok, I need to relax. There are obviously no lizards in Michigan.

10. But what about bugs. Big bugs. There are probably going to be bugs everywhere.

11. Will our tent keep out all the bugs?

12. I wonder what the dimensions of the tent are. I'll have my king-size air mattress.

13. Do people still use sleeping bags? The only sleeping bag I have is from 1996 and has Barbie on it.

14. What shoes should I bring? Flip-flops seem too flimsy and tennis shoes seem like you’re trying too hard.

15. What if it rains? Are tents waterproof? If not, that’s something some tent creator should probably fix, considering it is a form of shelter.

16. I'm going to need to shower after waking up in a tent. I’ll be able to shower every day, right? At least wash my face. I can feel the morning dew clogging my pores already. Oh God.

17. I wonder how far away the nearest shower will be. Hopefully close or I will not be a happy camper. (I’m so punny.)

18. I should probably know where the closest four-star hotel is just as a precaution.

19. It’s supposed to be hot. Can I bring my portable air-conditioning unit?

20. How will we make food?

21. Over a fire? I shouldn’t have quit Girl Scouts when I was six.

22. Maybe I’ll be within range of Jimmy John's delivery. That would make everything about this a lot better.

23. I wonder how far away the closest Chipotle/Panera/Starbucks is.

24. Maybe I should offer to drive so I have my car as an escape route if needed. Yes, I think I’ll do that.

25. Holy crap, I’ll be living with no electricity.

26. How am I going to charge my phone?

27. Do campgrounds have WiFi?

28. This could be bad. Why am I doing this again? No no no, I'll be fine. Deep breaths.

29. I might even end up loving it and wanting to do it again next weekend! Ok, too far.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
