Sister (noun)

1) A best friend for life

2) Player of dress up

3) Keeper of secrets

4) Teller of stories

A sister is all of the things listed above and so much more. She is the Meredith Grey to your Christina Yang. Who is the first person you call when you need a dance party and some ice cream. She is your #1 fan and the first person who will step up to defend you. She knows you inside and out, better than anyone else. She can tell what you're thinking just by looking at you. My sister is my favorite person in the whole world. Here are some things that I want for my sister in life:

1) That she loves herself and respects herself always

2) That she knows that her beauty comes from within

3) Confidence in herself and her abilities that never waivers

4) That she always sticks to her morals and refuses to change them for anybody

5) That she always remains positive and true to herself in a world that is filled with critics, cynics, and haters

6) That she loves those around her and know God put them there for a reason

7) That she knows she has a whole team behind her who are rooting her on and doing whatever we can to support her

8) Someone to hold her and love her when I can’t be there

9) That she is able to laugh at herself, life, and the crazy world around her

10) Friends that love and support her (almost) as much as I do

11) The ability to remove those from her life who only bring sadness and negativity

12) The chance to see the world and experience other cultures that are so different than ours

13) Road trips that take her to new places and shows her the beauty that the world has to offer

14) That she learns the best way to spend money is on experiences and not things

15) Sunsets and sunrises that make her appreciate the smaller things in life

16) Coffee that is always strong – just like her

17) Songs that make her dance and forget everything else

18) Times where she feels invincible and on top of the world

19) Nights out full of laughter, crazy adventures and memories that will last a lifetime

20) Boys who love and respect her until the right one comes along

21) That she will find someone someday who will make her the happiest girl alive and will protect her heart as his own

22) That she knows that with every hurt and heartache, there are moments of joy and love that make it all worth it

23) Mistakes that help her to grow and learn

24) That she is never afraid to reach for her dreams, no matter how big or far-fetched they may seem

25) That she never settles

26) The ability to always see the bigger picture

27) That God has a plan that is greater than anything she could ever imagine

28) To call me whenever, wherever because I will ALWAYS be there – no matter what

29) Know that I love her and nothing will ever change that

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
