29 Questions I Have for Penn State
Penn State World Campus

After spending my childhood visiting my grandmother and exploring Penn State's campus, I thought I knew all that there is to know about Penn State before I attended here. Even now as I'm graduating, there are some things about this university that leaves me perplexed. These are just a few of the questions I wish I could ask Penn State University.

1.Why does it always rain on game day?

2. Why does only the Creamery have the fancy coffee dispensers with the different flavors? I want them in every dining hall.

3. Why does Delta Chi always hang out in Redifer?

4. What makes the chicken baskets at Beaver Stadium so much better than the ones you can get from the Mix?

5. Speaking of the Mix, WHY CAN’T YOU GET CHIPOTLE MAYO FOR YOUR FRIES ANYMORE?

6. Why is walking to the third floor of Willard so much worse than walking to the third floor of any other building?

7. Why do you insist on putting so many of my classes in computer labs? I have my own laptop, that Dell is just taking up space.

8. Why is it easier to get through airport security than it is to take a test at Pollock Testing Center?

9. Have you ever considered having shuttles to bring people tailgating at the fields to the stadium? If not, I want a cut of how much you guys make when you implement this lucrative idea.

10. Who is Vamos? How did he get here? What made him think State College was the ideal market for a rickshaw?

11. How did LionPath cost more than the IST building?

12. At what point will you begin barricading Beaver Avenue in anticipation of a large gathering?

13. Why did you admit so many freshmen this year? It makes walking hard.

14. Why does TDX rule?

15. Who thought that “Penn State Lives Here” would be a successful PR campaign? Do they still work here?

16. Why do you never have any salad places open on Sundays? Sundays are when I want to eat salads to make up for the rest of the weekend and you’re making that hard.

17. Why hasn’t it snowed yet?

18. Speaking of snow, why do you never cancel school for snow when we get so much of it?

19. When will there be a Flyers/Penguins Winter Classic for Beaver Stadium?

20. Why is all of East connected via underground tunnel? Why didn’t you do that to the rest of the buildings and allow us to use those tunnels to get to class when it rains/snows/hails/whatever state college weather feels like doing that day?

21. Do you receive a complementary pair of Ray-Ban Flash Lenses upon accepting your bid to a sorority?

22. Has anyone ever been to Chrome?

23. Why is my ID so faded?

24. Did George Atherton choose to be buried on the corner of Pollock Road outside of Schwab? Like, how did that happen?

25. Is there actually a difference between a Drunk Duck, a Cafe Tea, a Monkey Boy and an Adios? When it comes down to it they're all pitchers of alcohol and sugary water...

26. What will replace old Canyon Pizza?

27. Are you ready for Penn State football?

28. Why are you making me leave?

29. Can I stay?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
