29 Moments When You Realize You're Dating Your Girlfriend's Roommates, Too

The month of February is known for it’s cold weather, Groundhog’s Day and midterm misery. Being the shortest month, many college students wish for it to be over as soon as it starts. Yet, one thing many look forward to is Valentine’s day; the day to ask that special someone to go on that cute, well thought out date you’ve had cooking in your head for weeks.

While Valentine’s Day (or Galantine’s Day for some) may have come and gone, the air of romance still lingers. On college campuses across the country, a rise in the number of people holding hands walking across the quad to the library increases in frequency.

You may envy these “love birds,” but beware: they have an uphill fight behind the scenes. It’s a battle for the guy to win over the girl’s roommates. They sit in judgment and are the key endorsement of which the guy seeks... and needs. Here are 29 moments when the guy realizes he’s not just dating one girl in the room:

1. When they remind you constantly of their dietary needs and restrictions.

2. When they tell you her favorite things over and over again.

3. When you hear them all scream after you ask her out for the first time.

4. When you get firm talks from the immediate roommate about “visitation hours” to see your girlfriend.

5. When you’re trying to set them up with someone solely so you can get alone time with your girl.

6. When they need to be in on every possible secret for date ideas… so they can approve or veto then.

7. When you develop a “bromance” with them.

8. When they yell at you more than your girlfriend.

9. When they leave the room to “play a game on their phone,”…and yell back they "shouldn't hear any talking!"

10. When they invite you over to trade snacks so you can see your girlfriend.

11. When they tell you their roommate is being a bully and expectsyou to pick a side.

12. When they make their sleep schedule known to you because nap time is important to them.

13. When you become unhindered to certain "bodily functions."

14. When they aren’t afraid to call your jokes stupid.

17. When they’ve known your girlfriend five times as long as your girlfriend has known you... and they always remind you of it.

18. When they share all sorts of embarrassing information and stories with you.

19. When they tell you the nicknames she likes and hates.

20. When they try to weird you out.

21. When they know your class schedule and routine.

22. When they causally threaten to kill you on a regular basis if you make your girlfriend cry or hurt their feelings.

23. When you know their birthday and your forget your girlfriend's.

24. When they call you and your girlfriend “mom and dad.”

25. When date night is more than two people.

26. When you get into passionate arguments with them and they always win.

27. When you're able to be your goofy self.

28. When the roommate(s) gets to choose the movie for “Netflix and Chill.”

29. And finally, when they approve this week's article.

These reasons make you think twice whom you’re going to hug last at the end of the night…

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
