After some time at Villanova University, there are many things you learn that go past the books and the classes.
As the summer draws to a close, we all know it's time to get back to campus. However until then, we can remember a few of the things only true Nationers understand.
- The Meal Plan. It’s easy to get confused between meals, MPEs, points and guest meals, but you eventually figure out how to makes it work.
- Navigating Café Nova. Timing it just right to avoid the long wait or the line. Your go-to meal, so you don’t spend too much time putting in your order. Also, knowing if you’re desperate you can text someone to put in your order and bypass the wait entirely.
- How to get the most out of your MPE at Holy Grounds, Belle Aire and Second Storey.
- Sparket Late Night food and End of Semester Dinner are the reason for the Freshman 15.
- The importance of Camp Co after a night out. Or really anytime or that matter…
- Your favorite spots on the Main Line. Ranging from Maloneys, Flips, and Kellys, or Sushi Land, Crust and Hopes, the main line sure knows how to keep us full and having fun.
- $5 and $10 dollar bills are rare and coveted. The ATM only dispenses $20 bills, so when it comes time to split the check for CampCo, these really come in handy.
- You absolutely loved Orientation and are proud of the fact you survived the Awkward Luau. Your OC was the answer to your prayers in the attempt of not looking like a newbie freshman on campus. (Thanks Thomas, you’re a [social] lifesaver.)
- You laugh when people call it the Wild Cat Path.
- Made in America is the best way to spend your Labor Day weekend. Decked in your favorite red, white, and blue, listening to your favorite artists on the Rocky Steps, is there really any better way?
- The importance of giving back. Villanova Day of Service brings the entire Villanova community together to preform service throughout greater Philadelphia.
- Special Olympics Fall Festival is one of the best weekends on campus all year. Whether you’re on committee, a freshman LPH, VC or just a student volunteer, everyone on campus gets involved in this amazing event.
- Hoops Mania is always a memorable night to say the least.
- Formal Season. This wonderful time comes around twice each year, offering a nice reprieve before the struggle of finals hit.
- How to dress. The majority of the student population dresses for success on a daily basis. Whether it’s dinner, a presentation or even just class, we all know how to look good.
- That you have easily lost a year of your life standing at the light at
Lancaster. But rain, snow, cold or beautiful day, it probably meant you were going to south campus, where you know you spent one of the best years of your life. - To never count on VUMobile or iPrint. Always be prepared for the
worst, especially when you have a paper or project due in the next class. - Tolentine. Between the never-ending stairs, the fluctuating temperatures, the bathrooms that never will be found, you should just start complaining now if you find out you have a class in this building, because you know you won’t stop all semester.
- The struggle of explaining what ACS is to outsiders. At this point you’ve given up and just said it’s freshman English.
- Which floor of the library you are. Everyone has their personal favorites. Whether you are a socialite on the first or like my friend who swears by the absolute silence of the fourth, the distinct noise levels each have their followers.
- Father Peter and Jay Wright are the biggest celebrities on campus. And the student body reacts accordingly.
- Nothing else is important when it’s a Villanova basketball game day.
- How to tailgate. Some of the best times of college are had in a parking lot, especially at the Wells Fargo Center.
- Never actually knowing all the words to the fight song, but always belting out the ones you go. And of course we know how to throw up our "V'"s. #gocatz
- The need to instagram a picture of the church at least once before you graduate. This also includes the oreo, a basketball game, or a snowy day on campus.
- “Villa-no-fun” is a complete lie.
- That the seemingly over sold idea of ‘community,’ is actually quite true. Your friends are your family, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
- It’s most definitely time to get back to school.
