1. When you first start college or when the new school year begins, you're excited! You're going to see your friends again, new classes are starting and you get to escape your parents basement since they turned your old room into "the office" and the old office into a third dining room.
2. Then it hits you after a while that classes aren't all fun and games. You have to go back to the study grind after two to three months of relaxation and summer paradise.
3. As you walk around campus, there's going to be a point where you'll start to realize that the freshmen just look progressively younger. It's not like you're getting older, you're like...only 20 or 22. But sometimes you'll just look around and go...
4. Midway through the day, you'll already be getting tired of classes so while you're on the way to your next class, you're going to want to see if your friends want to kick it later. And you don't mind people over-hearing you because, yeah... you have a life...obviously.
5. When you move into your dorm/sorority/fraternity/apartment there's bound to be some issues that arise with your roommates. It's important to set boundaries ahead of time before things get too out of control.
6. The biggest crime you can commit in your living space is stealing someone else's food. If it has their name on it...leave it alone. Or else...
7. EVERY new quarter, you scope out your class, hoping and praying there's someone really hot you can sit next to everyday.
8. On the downside you'll have to listen to the professor talk about the syllabus for an hour when you can just read the thing yourself in 20 minutes.
9. When you talk to your friends about asking that special someone out... they always end up telling you the same thing.
They'll tell you the truth because they love you.
10. But ah, what do they know? They didn't see how he/she looked at you 0.736434838 seconds more than they should have. They lingered. There's obviously something there. And you're not about to let opportunities pass you by when you are in your prime. So you're gonna go up to them after class and pull out your smoothest move...
11. Dating in college is waaaay more complicated than regular dating. So when things don't work out, try to keep the drunk calls and outbursts to a minimum, because in a few months time you'll realize it wasn't that big of a deal anyway.
12. Also it feels great to show off how great you're doing in front of your ex.
13. No matter how old you get, your parents are still going to want to check up on you. Every conversation seems to go the same and no matter how many times you say it, you can't seem to convince them that you're doing just fine.
14. There will be that moment that you have to confront your friend about their drinking problem. It might be awkward at first but they have to know that you're there for them.
15. Of course, there will be nights when your drinking habits are just about as questionable.
16. After being in the library a little too long, you're going to feel like you're not getting a healthy level of human interaction.
17. When you decide to finally apply for your major, it'll feel like the world is on your shoulders until you get your acceptance letter.
18. You have to start working a job to get experience and professionalism can take a while to learn.
19. But don't spend too much time at your job. Remember that school comes first. If you over-work yourself you can start to feel like...
20. Not to mention, the first round of exams always seems to come around too fast. In the quarter system... by week two, you can have a paper due, two exams and a group project you have to finish, all the while you're fresh off syllabus week.
21. Life can get crazy between work, school, relationships and family. You'll find yourself wondering...
22. But don't lose hope! There's a reason you do the things you do and as you learn to balance everything you'll realize that you won't freak out as much.
23. After the long week is over you have two choices...taking a much needed nap.
24. OR you can do just what Dr. Spaceman says (after all, he is a doctor).
25. When money is tight you'll have to think of really thoughtful things to get them on their birthday to make them feel special.
26. Though it's hard, all the struggle you deal with in college will make you get deep, learn a lot about yourself, and strive to support the people struggling around you.
27. So work hard and believe in yourself. Because if you don't, who else will?
