A is for Awesome Location
Located in Beverly, Massachusetts, our campus is surrounded by great shopping, superb restaurants, and great places to spend your day as a tourist. You can go into Salem for dinner at Tavern in the Square, go shopping at the Lynnfield Marketplace, or make the drive to Gloucester or Rockport to take in true coastal living. We’re also only 35 minutes from Boston, so if you can always head into the city for a Sox game or a concert, too.
B is for Beaches
One of the main reasons so many of us chose to attend Endicott is simple: There are three private beaches on campus! You can spend your day playing beach volleyball at Brindle Beach, relaxing with your friends at Peace Rock on Mingo Beach, or hanging out with your friends (and most of Endicott’s student body) at Tupper Beach on a beautiful spring day. Opinions may differ on which beach is best (Mingo is my personal fave), but I think we can all agree that we’re happy we have three to choose from.
C is for Callahan
Ah, our lovely dining hall. With just one meal swipe, you get all you can eat, which, depending on your opinions of Callahan food could be good or bad. There are nights you come in hungry and leave feeling satisfied, like Chicken Patty Satty (Saturday), and others you leave still hungry wishing you didn’t waste a meal swipe only to see Fried Catfish Sandwiches being served.
D is for Doc Wylie
Endicott’s President and the man everyone wishes was their grandpa. Famous for his BBQ’s and Open Forums, he is one of the most genuine and kind souls you will meet in your time at Endicott. He has done so much to transform Endicott into the well-known, competitive college it is today. He can be seen cheering on our sports teams, eating in the Callahan like the rest of us, or driving down Hale Street waving to all the students he sees. You gotta love him.
E is for Einstein’s
“Is that all? Are you sure? Are you really sure?” And all the other sassy comments you get from Fotini while ordering and waiting for your coffee and bagel.
F is for Family
It sounds cliché, but the students and faculty really do become like a family to you during your time at Endicott. Throughout the good times and the bad, you feel the support of so many and it really is overwhelming. This is your home away from home, and it is so comforting to know that all around you are so many people who really do make you feel like you belong and are a member of our beautiful Endicott family. <3
G is for Gulls
Our campus is right on the water so it’s only fitting that our mascot is a (sea)Gull. Other schools might think our mascot is silly, but we are all proud to be Gulls. EC GULLS!! CA CAWW, CA CAWW!!
H is for Halle Library
You could spend anywhere from 2 to 12 hours in the library on any given day depending on your workload. It’s also probably the hottest building on campus in the middle of the winter, so if you’re planning a 12-hour stay, be sure you have plenty of water and aren’t wearing too many layers.
I is for Intramurals
If you don’t take Intramurals seriously, don’t bother joining a team. Whether it’s softball or volleyball, your team better be ready to play hard, after all, the prize is a free t-shirt.
J is for #JustEndicottThings
You can live in a converted mansion your freshman year instead of in a traditional dorm. You go to an on campus club called Gully’s located in the basement of the Academic Center for 21+ nights (check out CRIBS: Gully's on YouTube to see what it's all about). You drive around campus for 15 minutes trying to find a parking spot in any lot you can, besides Overflow and Solar. Bingo Blowout is the biggest event of the year. #JustEndicottThings
K is for Keys to Degrees
One of the programs that makes Endicott so unique is Keys to Degrees. This program gives teen mothers a chance to attend college while still raising their child. It’s one of Doc’s many great additions to Endicott. Plus, you get the chance to see adorable toddlers running around Callahan and eating meals with their moms. If you’re lucky, you might even get to babysit the kiddos every now and then!
L is for the Lodge
Late night dining at it’s finest. Made to look like a rustic ski lodge, you can enjoy a quick bite to eat after a long day of classes and studying or on the weekends when you need a pick me up on your way to the next party. Chicken Tenders, Mozzarella Sticks, Quesadillas, French Fries, and Burgers. UGH delicious.
M is for the McDonald Gymnasium
Home of our phenomenal sports teams. Students #packthemack almost every season to watch our Endicott College Gulls dominate the competition in any sport they play.
N is for NSMs
New Student Mentors aka Orientation Leaders: they make Orientation fun for everyone, from fun icebreakers to a wild variety show! Your NSM (OL) becomes the person you look up to most in your first year at Endicott and they are always there to provide you with good advice and guidance whenever you need it.
O is for the Observer
Endicott’s student run newspaper that you most likely check out when you’re lounging in Lower Callahan avoiding doing homework. You catch up on what Doc Wylie has to say in his monthly letter to students and see what the sports teams are up to. You might not read the whole thing, but you can always find a good article that sparks your interest.
P is for Pride’s Deli
No matter what time of day it is, if you’re hungry enough and you don’t want any of the on campus food, you’re calling Pride’s. Studying in the LSB and you need a little something to power through? Call Pride’s, order a Chubby Chick, and wait 45 minutes to an hour and it’ll be there. I mean, is the day ever complete if you don’t see at least 7 Pride’s delivery cars on campus at any given time?
Q is for Quality Workers
You have to love all the lovely people who work behind the scenes at Endicott. HUGE shout out to the Sodexo workers who can always make you smile when you’re going to eat. We love you Dennis, Fotini, Mary Ann, and Athena. Another GIANT shout out definitely has to go to the Phys Plant workers (my main man Jeff) who spend their days cleaning up after us dirty college students. Take a minute to thank these great people and tell them how much their hard work is appreciated.
R is for Room Draw
Whether the housing system is based on GPA and housing points or number of class credits, Room Draw time will ALWAYS be the most stressful time of the year. Who am I going to live with? Whose pick time are we using? Can I pull my friend in or are they too many credits behind? Wait, do we have enough people to fill a suite? AHHHHH. We all hate it.
S is for Swipeable Events
Educational events hosted on campus almost every week, where if students attend they get some sort of credit. Rumor has it, the number of Swipeables you attend affects your class registration time, but no one can be too sure. Most of us just attend the required amount of Swipeables to be safe.
T is for Townhouses
In my opinion, the best housing option on campus. The townhouses aka Williston, a U-shaped building with a great front lawn perfect for tailgating football games and cooking out on a beautiful spring day, is located in between the football field and the gym. Perfect. I love them. Definitely worth the longer walk to the Callahan.
U is for Undergraduate Programs
Arts & Sciences, Business, Communication, Education (best program EVER), Hospitality Management, Sport Science & Fitness Studies, Nursing, Visual & Performing Arts, and Academic Administration. We have a program here for everyone. No matter what program you are in, excluding Nursing, you are required to complete 120-hour Internships as a freshman and sophomore. So if you decide after your first Internship experience in a Business setting that it is not really for you, you can go ahead and switch majors. But if you love it, you have a great resume booster!
V is for VPAC
The Visual and Performing Arts Center aka the quietest place on campus besides the library. Bonus: there’s a super cool rooftop garden on the third floor that is great for studying when the weather is nice. Check it out sometime.
W is for Wax Academic Center
The AC, home of the Communication, Hospitality, and Education programs, and also most people’s least favorite building on campus. So what if it’s old and some of the classrooms are the size of a closet? The Education hallway is great! It’s also home to the Courtyard Café. Despite popular opinion, I love the AC.
X is for X-tremely Good Sports Teams
Men’s Basketball: Back-to-Back CCC Champs. Men’s Volleyball: CCC Champs 4 years in a row. Men’s Ice Hockey: In their first year as a D3 program, made it all the way to the ECAC Northeast Championship. We’ll get ‘em next year. Men’s Baseball: Hosted the CCC Championship this year. Again, we''ll get 'em next year. Honestly, need I say more?
Y is for Yik Yak
You check it for ~accurate~ updates on what’s going on around campus or if you need a good laugh. People just won’t let Yik Yak die, but I can’t say I’m upset about it.
Z is for Zzz’s
If you aren’t at least trying to nap in between classes or dinner, you’re doing college wrong. We all have a ton of work so we spend a lot of time away from our beds in the LSB or Library late at night and deserve to take a nap every now and then. Treat yo-self.
