25 Times Drake Has Been A Philosopher
Huffington Post

Rappers come and go. They're not in an easy industry to succeed in, and some achieve well beyond reasonable expectations. One man, in particular, has defied the odds. While some get a few hits before they become irrelevant, he's gotten 21 number-one hits. Some make a name for themselves, he's become an international brand. Some simply stray near the back of the pack, he's climbed from the bottom to become the alpha. Some live their lives idolizIng old heroes, he's become a living, breathing legend. Of course, I'm referring to the man himself, the King, the 6 God, Drake. Whether or not Drake is your favorite artist, you're lying to yourself if you haven't at least connected with one of his songs. But for any true Stans out there, I think it's quite clear that Drake isn't just your average rapper. He doesn't just spit fire, he spits pure gold. I would argue that Drake has reached a whole new level, on par with Socrates, Aristotle, and Pluto. That's right: Drake might not be Greek, but he's definitely a philosopher. Here are 12 times that has proven himself to be a man of pure wisdom and philosophy.

1. "I can't live and hold the camera someone gotta tape this."

2. "I'm living inside the moment, not taking pictures to save it. I mean how could I forget? My memories never faded."

3. "She thinks I've become a slave to the wealth, But I never break the promises I made to myself."

4. "Bridges burn, tables turn, you live and learn."

5." I'm way to young to be feeling this old."

6. "Furthest thing from perfect, like everyone I know."

7. "Cause everybody dies, but not everybody lives."

8. "Better late than never, but never late is better"

9. "The sun is up when you get home, that's just a way of life"

10. "But I never ever trip, just peace happiness and love."

11. "Know yourself, know your worth; my actions been louder than my words."

12. "You should just be yourself, right now you're someone else.

13. "And I just came from dinner where I ate some well-done seared scallops that were to die for, but I got bigger fish to fry."

14. "Cops are killing people with they arms up, and your main focus is trynna harm us?"

15. "If I ain't the greatest then I'm headed for it."

16. "What's a life with no fun, please don't be so ashamed. I've had mine, you've had yours, we both know."

17. "My only wish is I die real; 'cuz the truth hurts and those lies heal."

18 "You hate the fact that you bought the dream and they sold you one."

19. "I stay silent 'cuz we at war and I'm very patient."

20. "You might feel like nothing was the same."

21. "When I look back I might be mad that I gave this attention."

22. "Seen what you do for fame and what you do for freedom."

23. "'Cuz they don't wanna see you happier than them."

24. "I'm not your trophy, baby, I won't let you show me off or shine me."

25. "I swear this life is like the sweetest thing I've ever known."

Any one of these 25 iconic lyrics can be held up in scrutiny with some of the best philosophical works. Not only does he leave you thinking, Drake opens your eyes to a new perspective on life. His lyrics can help you get through a rough day, unravel the hidden meaning behind coded words, or just see things differently. We always look to history to find our philosophies, maybe it's time we look in a place we didn't expect. All said and done, April 29th can't come soon enough: Drake's new album Views from the 6 is set to come out, and after this list, I cannot wait to see what new pearls of wisdom Drake has for us.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
