25 Things To Thank Your Roommate For

I’m not the easiest person to live with, but somehow you manage.

25 Things To Thank Your Roommate For
Michael Carroll

I don’t thank my roommate enough for everything she does for me, so here’s 25 things that I want to thank her for (even though I could probably go on forever.)

1. For being my first friend at college.

Moving somewhere where you don’t know anyone is rough, especially when that place is college. Thanks for being my best friend right away.

2. For introducing me to our best friends.

You are the extrovert to my introvert, the yin to my yang. If it wasn’t for your outgoing nature, I wouldn’t have met some of the best people I know. Thanks for dragging me along until they were my friends too.

3. For giving me a second wardrobe.

Good thing we’re the same size. That’s all I have to say.

4. For never letting me dance alone.

Whenever I need to dance it out, you’re always ready to do it with me. Our “Ice Ice Baby” and “Good Vibrations” double header cannot be beat.

5. For your awesome dad moves.

As much as I make fun of you, thank you for keeping my life (and parties) especially interesting with your terrible, yet simultaneously awesome dad moves.

6. For taking tons of pictures when I ask you to take one.

I’m a picky Instagrammer… sorry not sorry.

7. For knowing when I need a hug.

Sometimes that’s all it takes.

8. For accepting my apology for not doing the dishes.

I’m gross. I know. But like, thanks for letting it go as long as there’s no mold.

9. For letting me cry on your shoulder.

Sometimes I just gotta cry it out, and you’re always there when I do. Whether it’s over Grey’s Anatomy or a boy, you're always ready to offer tissues.

10. For letting me snuggle in your bed.

There have been some nights where I just couldn’t bear to sleep alone. Thank you for offering a small space on your bed for me to snuggle up in.

11. For your constant positive outlook.

Even though you make me look like Debbie Downer most of the time, I couldn’t live without your sunshine, hippie bullsh*t.

12. For getting the things I’m too lazy to get myself.

I mean like technically I’m closer to the microwave… but SINCE YOU’RE UP...

13. For holding my hair back.

We’ve all been there.

14. For binge watching TV with me.

Whether it’s Teen Mom, SVU, RuPaul, Catfish, Jersey Shore, BMS, or the Kardashians. The answer will forever be yes if you ask me to watch with you.

15. For encouraging me to try new things.

Without you, I never would’ve gone on any cool adventures or tried a bunch of new things. Thanks for getting my lazy self out of bed.

16. For keeping me laughing.

As much as I’d like you to think you’re not, you’re pretty hilarious.

17. For sugar-coating it when I’m just too sensitive.

Which is most of the time...

18. For keeping it real when I need to hear it.

I know I may look like a lost puppy when you tell me the truth, but I really do I appreciate the honesty.

19. For always having my back.

When I need you, you’re always there.

20. For letting me complain.

Which I do like 95 percent of the time, so I appreciate you always listening. Even if I just complained about it yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that...

21. For always being down to split food.

Mac and cheese bites and X-tasy fries?? Cool. I’ll Venmo you.

22. For reminding me that things will work themselves out.

And they always have (so far).

23. For letting it slide when I’m too busy to clean my side of the room.

I know I give you crap for being the messy one, so thanks for not giving me any when I just don’t have time to straighten up.

24. For not being too mad when I get you sick.

Hey, at least now we BOTH know how bad mono sucks. Am I right? No? Ok. Sorry about that again.

25. For being you.

All my angry comments and eye rolls aside, you are an absolute god send. I’m not the easiest person to live with, but somehow you manage. You’re the best roomie and friend I could’ve ever asked for. Thanks for being crazy awesome!

To three and a half more years here and plenty more elsewhere.

Love you most,

Your Roomie

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
