25 Things Every Tinder User Encounters

Alright, alright, so I have a Tinder. Before you chime in with your "Tinderella" jokes, I would like to make it clear that I’m not actually serious about meeting people through this fiery thirst-trap app. I'll admit that it can be a good time-killer, swiping left and right through other users, and maybe a bit exciting when the attractive brunette matches with you, but I prefer meeting people outside the Internet and social media.

Anyways, my time on the app has taught me a few things. Here are 25 things every Tinder user encounters:

1. Every photo on a certain user's profile is a group picture and you have no idea who the hell the actual user is.

2. You encounter users that don’t even look/seem like real people.

3. Someone you know comes up in your feed -- and it's awkward.

4. Now that you've established that you do in fact recognize this person, you must decide if you want to reveal to the person that you're interested, but at the same time you fear making things weird.

5. A user in your stream may have the same name as someone you’re trying to forget and you automatically swipe left.

6. You often feel like a jerk for solely judging people on just their pictures and bio.

7. A user super-likes you and his/her super-thirst super-scares you!

8. A user's bio says, “Not looking for anything serious.”

9. A user's bio says, “You can tell everyone we met at Starbucks.”

10. A user has a significant other in his/her profile picture ( Excuse me, but do you not understand how this app works? ).

11. A user has a selfie stick in their picture.

12. "Why is this guy not wearing a shirt in all of his pictures?" (WARNING: He may be flexing his gains/showing off large arm tattoo).

13. You match with someone attractive and you get super gassed.

14. You go through too many swipes and Tinder takes a while to load new matches because you’ve gone through everyone in your area.

15. You have to change your age range and distance range because your stream wasn't pleasing you.

16. You opened Tinder up in a public place and feel embarrassed to be swiping out in the open (#reckless).

17. A match slides into your inbox asking to hook up right away.

18. You tell them that you don’t want to hook up. They un-match you.

19. Or sometimes they un-match you for no reason at all.

20. You swipe right for someone and you never end up matching with them, and you feel temporarily heartbroken.

21. You have a lot of users that you matched with, but never end up talking to.

22. You meet some interesting characters on the app, and yet you still haven't deleted it.

23. Your fingers get so excited swiping in a certain direction that you accidentally swipe right/left for someone you didn’t mean to ("Wait. He was cute. How do I go back?")

24. You drain your phone’s battery swiping through pictures of singles in your area.

25. You've enabled notifications on your smartphone -- all your friends can see your Tinder notifications on your lock screen and your secret is out: You're on Tinder!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
