This last weekend was Thanksgiving break. I live in an apartment with three lovely roommates, but they all went out of town for Thanksgiving. And I stayed here... by myself.
Don't get me wrong, it was a party. I decided to catalog my adventure via Snapchat so that you too can see the insanity of the 25 stages of being without your roommates for the weekend:
1. They all left.
2. I started talking to things.
3. I started to miss my roommate.
4. I started to really miss my roommate...
5. But then it's Thanksgiving!!
6. The peaceful, quiet morning.
7. Yes, I did laundry on Thanksgiving because I could.
8. I didn't spend thanksgiving alone, but I did start counting down to Christmas.
9. The next day, I made myself a pizza to drown my sorrows.
10. I ate the pizza... to drown my sorrows.
11. I watched 'Titanic'...
12. ...And suddenly "drowning my sorrows" was way too real of a metaphor.
13. Ice cream seemed like the logical choice.
14. Yes, I cried all by myself in my apartment.
15. Overall, it was a pretty busy day.
16. They say the first sign of insanity is talking to yourself.
17. I think the second is talking to inanimate objects.
18. The next day, all the lights decided to stop working.
19. I don't know why.
20. Then my mind decided it was time to start imagining all the possibilities.
21. Apparently we had an extra lamp in the closet.
22. I scared a human...
23. I got really philosophical about homework.
24. I also got very tired of doing homework...
25. So I did cooking things instead.
26. But guess what???
So there you have it, countless hours of homework and five solo dance parties later, I survived the weekend without my roommates. I only went a little bit crazy, and I don't think I broke anything? (We'll have to find some more light bulbs though.)
So if you ever have to spend the weekend without your roommates, just remember this: If I can do it, you can do it too.
