I never really "fit in" growing up. Hindsight is always twenty-twenty, so I mostly understand it now. But, there are some things that will forever remain a mystery to me.
There are those people that only knew you in your worst stages...
and there are those people that saw you transition into a normal human being.
Then, there are those that have been blessed enough to only know the normal you. The you that only possess a small amount of awkward now.

1. Despite your newfound normalcy, it seems like, no matter how hard you try, it's nearly impossible to act normal around those that only knew you as "that one awkward kid."

2. And it seems like you'll do whatever it takes to change their minds.

3. But, it only makes it worse.

4. So, whenever you're around them, you just sit there stewing in the awkwardness you once were ...
5. ... Accepting that this is your fate.
6. And then, just when you thought you had gotten past all of it...
7. The worst thing ever in the history of events happens to you -- you begin to vividly remember just how awkward you really were.
*shudder*

8. You start to think back to all of your old Facebook and Instagram posts...

9. Old yearbook pictures begin rushing into the forefront of your mind.

10. And then, the actual worst thing happens to you: your friends do it, too.
11. Everything that you have tried to hide from your awkward past is resurfacing and there is nothing you can do about it.
12. You've been defeated by your awkward nature and all you can do now is sit and watch the nightmare unfold.

13. You start to remember that one time you busted out your dad moves at homecoming your freshman year.

14. Or your sophomore year ... the year you thought you had reached peak coolness because you weren't a freshman anymore.
15. Really, just any year.
16. Lest you forget about that one summer you tried your hand at sports.
17. Only to find out that anything that involved you possessing even a moderate level of hand-eye coordination was not for you.

18. Then there was that one time in middle school that you discovered makeup. You felt, both, confident and confused and it was exhilarating.

19. Or when you tried to be cool and convinced yourself that you were, in fact, cool.
20. After all of this, you finally decide to come to terms with your inability to do life well.

21. But, despite all the bad, there are some redeeming qualities of your past -- moments that can only bring a smile to your face.

22. Like when you met your best friends.

23. Who, you know, will always love you. No matter how weird (or normal) you are, because you were pretty awkward when they met you.

24. You probably will be well into the future, too, and they still love you.
