I have only worked one day in the retail business and I already know that they're not given enough credit for all the work they do. I didn't realize how difficult it was going to be going into it. If you've never worked in retail before I'll tell you right now that it's exhausting. It will go from no one in the store to 12 different people asking you different questions and demanding an answer immediately. Here are 24 thoughts that everyone has had on their first day of working in retail.

1. “What do I wear?”

2. “Can I wear jeans or do I have to actually dress up?”

3. “I probably should have paid attention during training.”

4. “I really hope nobody asks me anything.”

5. “When do I get a break?”

6. “It’s only been 15 minutes??”

7. “I hope my coworkers like me.”

8. “Wow, there’s nothing to do.”

9. “Don’t panic, you just need to grab three pairs of shoes, open two dressing rooms, and work the cash register at the same time.”

10. “My feet hurt.”

11. “Why do these people ask all the questions that I don’t know the answers to?”

12. “Is it too early to ask for time off?”

13. “Why are there so many people here?”

14. “Why would they put the most popular shoes on the top shelf where I can’t reach them?”

15. “I really need to learn how to do mental math.”

16. “How much trouble would I get in for yelling at this rude lady?”

17. “Can I sit down?”

18. “I must have lost at least 15 pounds with all this walking around.”

19. “Why can’t people just put things back where they found them?!?”

20. “No those shoes don’t go with that dress but I have to be nice and try to make money so yes they do.”

21. “You didn’t like any of the 30 shirts that you tried on? Are you purposely trying to waste my time?”

22. “It’s so hard not to dance to this music.”

23. “I have got to get comfier shoes.”

24. “Is all of this work worth minimum wage?”

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
