College can be an interesting time in life. There are many things you will learn whether it be the easy way or the hard way. It's truly a time to make or break yourself. You will truly learn more about yourself than you ever had and no book could teach you these lessons. Time to make the most of those 4 years!

1. Sometimes making new friends is hard

Even if you attend a university with 50,000 people it can be hard to put yourself out there.

2. Cleaning is essential

Mom and dad aren't there to tell you to pick up your clothes or to clean the bathroom.

3. Choose wisely

You're old enough to know better, but also too young to care. Just be ready for the consequences.

4. Planning is key

Trust me when I say to plan almost everything. It will make life so much easier.

5. How to eat like a normal human being

I soon discovered that just because I was grocery shopping for myself didn't mean that I could buy 10 boxes of Gushers and justify it.

6. Everything in moderation

Don't burn yourself out every week in school. Don't go out drinking every night.

7. Heartbreak hurts, but you'll survive

Although this seems like the end of the world (trust me, I hear you) you will get through this.

8. Time is almost never on your side

Always ticking and always slipping away.

9. Sometimes a good cry is needed

COLLEGE IS STRESSFUL. A good cry can sometimes make you feel better.

10. You will meet people who change your life

This one speaks for itself.

11. You will be lonely

No one ever really talks about it, but there will be days and nights when you are alone in your dorm and it is lonely. You can't go downstairs and hang out with your sibling or go pet your dog.

12. But being lonely isn't the end of the world

You find things to do to pass the time. A little me time never hurt.

13. It's game time

No one is holding your hand anymore. You don't go to class? That's on you. Miss an assignment? Take the 0. Tough.

14. Just have some fun

Work hard, play harder.

15. Be who you want to be

You can go to college and become a whole new you. You aren't under a microscope anymore. People normally care about your past, just who you present yourself as now.

16. You blink and it's gone

Time flies when you're having fun right?

17. Put yourself out there

Get involved and try new things.

18. Believe in yourself

Only you can give yourself everything you need and want

19. If you want to dance, you gotta pay the band

In other words, if you wanna go out but have a test in the morning, you better be there to take it.

20. Do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do

Work hard now so you can do what you want to do later in life.

21. Set aside me time

Take a hot bath or read a good book.

22. DO THINGS YOU NEVER THOUGHT YOU WOULD

This doesn't mean to get wasted every night of the week, but more along the lines of adventure.

23. Keep in touch

You don't see your family every day or your friends in the hallways. Give them a call.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
