How To Have A 21st Birthday Waltz

What’s a waltz? I get this question every time I discuss how excited I am about my upcoming waltz to anyone from Florida International University. Similarly, I had no idea what a waltz was until I attended Florida State University for my first two years of college. I quickly learned during my time there that at many southern schools like FSU, waltzes are single handily the best night of a college girl’s career.

A waltz is the epic celebration of a girl’s 21st birthday. It’s a night where a collegiate’s transition into adulthood is honored by partying it up at her favorite club with her favorite people. Waltz dates are claimed months in advanced and people put a lot of effort into making a waltz incredible for the birthday girl.

In honor of waltz season here’s everything you need to know in order to throw a banging waltz.

The first step in planning a fantastic waltz is coming up with an original theme. Themes can really be anything you want from Barbie to ballers the possibilities are endless. Some of the most creative themes I’ve seen are Ana’s #Get Shrek’d waltz and Shelby’s Crazy for Corgi’s waltz. Having an awesome theme gives your guests the opportunity to get creative and come up with cool outfits to wear at your waltz.

The next step is planning the ideal itinerary for your waltz night. Waltzes begin with a pregame at an apartment or house and guests are then transported to the bar of choice by a party bus. Party buses are a necessity they keep everyone safe and together from the pregame to the bar. Some of my best memories from the waltzes I’ve been are from the ride on the party bus.

Furthermore, the most critical component of a waltz is the birthday sign. A birthday sign is created based around the theme and has a list of 21 things the birthday girl has to complete by the end of the night. She wears the sign around all night and checks off each task on her list after she completes them. The birthday girl’s most crafty best friend is typically given the honor of making the birthday sign. A sign is also a great photo prop for all of the Instagram pictures you’ll be taking.

Last but not least, the most important part of a waltz is just to live it up. You only turn 21 once so why not make the night one you’ll never forget. At Florida State, a long-standing FSU tradition is being thrown into Westcott fountain on 21st birthday. A Tallahassee waltz wouldn’t be complete without a final dip in Westcott.

Whether you go to a southern college or not, I recommend that every girl turning 21 have a waltz to celebrate the big day. Becoming legal is a huge deal and you should celebrate the disposal of your fake ID and finally being able to get into bars with cheap cover.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
