21 Thoughts You Have When You Turn 21

In honor of my closest friends turning 21 in recent months, I’ve compiled a list of thoughts that come with one of the most memorable birthdays of your life.

1. It’s finally come—the day 21 years in the making. At 18 I could vote, now at 21 I can drink. The last obstacle to adulthood is finally gone—woop woop!

2. Time to order my first drink—what do I get?

3. This is definitely different from $3 wine and cheap frat beer.

4. I need to choose something I can pronounce. Can't be too obvious I have no idea what I'm doing yet.

5. Okay, I’ll go with something fun—strawberry margarita, please?

6. Check my ID? Sure, go ahead—nothing to hide here.

7. They’re looking at it for a long time…is something wrong? Today is my birthday, right?

8. Phew, all clear. First legal drink officially ordered.

9. Here it comes! Wow, it’s almost too pretty to drink.

10. Hmmm…not gonna lie, it tastes like, well, all the other not-so-legal drinks I’ve had…

11. But I kinda like this, I feel so sophisticated.

12. Ready for round two, please!

13. Okay, I think I’m on round five by now…definitely feeling it.

14. Ready to hit the next bar? Of course! I’m up for anything now. *drunk happy dance*

15. La de da, ready to pay…wait, what is my total?

16. How can people afford to do this??

17. Okay, starting this new chapter drunk and broke, I can handle it.

18. New level of drunk has been achieved in my life. What is it even called? Does it have a name?

19. This might really be the best night of my life.

20. But I’m ready to PTFO.

21. Good morning, hangover…and welcome to being 21.
