21 Thoughts On Being 21

Ah, 21! The golden age that you start dreaming about soon after you first experience with alcohol. The countdown to your 21st birthday is a countdown that can compare to no other. The pain of all of your friends slapping their IDs down when you go out to eat while you sip on your water is excruciating, and the instant you enter your birthday month it feels as if you just might die from the pain. So I'm a little dramatic, what's your point? You would be too if you had been counting down your birthday since like, forever. While waiting on this glorious twenty-first birthday, here are some thoughts on being 21.

1. Someone said that being 21 actually makes you not like drinking as much.

2. Selfies with my alcoholic drinks in public? Uh, duh!

3. Drinking whenever I want? Don't mind if I do!

4. I swear to drunk, I'm not God.

5. Of course, I will buy you drinks, I have that capability now!

6. Taking pictures after three drinks may not be in my best interest.

7. Eating Mexican food this often has never made so much sense.

8. Woohoo, the world is spinning!

9. Are you SURE I did that? I don't remember...

10. When in doubt... drink it out.

11. Yes, I'm drinking again. I just turned 21, leave me alone.

12. The strangest thing happened the other day. I became a bartender in my own kitchen.

13. Wine Wednesday? No, wine every day.

14. What time is it? Time to drink.

15. I have the ultimate gift to bring over now.

16. How much is too much alcohol? The limit does not exist.

17. I have a real big day of drinking ahead of me, can we reschedule?

18. I think I just became the life of the party.

19. What do you mean I look drunk? How does one look drunk?

20. I don't need anyone, thank you. I have tequila.

21. Can I stay 21 forever?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
