So about two short weeks ago I turned the big 21! Being the youngest in my family by far, it's been a long time coming for this day to arrive. Well, it finally came and this was every thought that went through my head in the first 10 minutes of waking up.

1. WOO HOO I'M FINALLY 21!!!!!!

2. Oh dear God, I’m actually 21.

3. What do I wear?

4. Is it too early to take a shot?

5. It probably is too early but I’ll never have another 21st birthday sooooo...

6. Let the wave of “Happy Birthday” texts come on!

7. Do I go to class even though it’s my birthday?

8. No, I need to go to class...I can’t be a complete delinquent today.

9. Why isn’t the whole campus singing happy birthday to me right now?

10. I need to call my mom! Wait…shouldn’t she be calling me today?

11. “Hey mom, did I renew my license?”

12. “Yes mom, I promise not to cause too much trouble today.”

13. OMG OMG OMG OMG I'M 21!!!!

14. I’m basically a whole new person now even though I haven’t changed one bit physically or mentally in the past 24 hours.

15. So do I schedule a weekly wine night now?

16. Do I even like wine?

17. Okay I’ll just order one drink at dinner…wait maybe two...

18. Wow, I’m about to take my first sip of alcohol.

19. I am such an adult now.

21. I am definitely no closer to being an adult lol.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
