21 Things All Sorority Women Experience During Recruitment
Elisabeth Radwan

Recruitment Week is upon us, sorority women! We all know that it's a week filled with stress, emotions, lack of sleep, and putting your best foot forward. My own sorority has just gone through recruitment week and there are certain things that all sorority women experience, regardless of the organization. Good luck to all other organizations going through recruitment week, and I hope everyone who has already gone through it recovers quickly!

1. Right before the first round of girls come in and you can’t even keep your thoughts together because you’re so excited and nervous

2. And then you meet all of the girls and your nerves just go right away

3. And then you finish the first round and it feels like it lasted all of 5 seconds

4. Wondering if you have time to use the bathroom in between rounds

5. ...Or to chug a red bull

6. When you can’t remember any of the open-ended questions you were told to ask the Potential New Members so you just end up rambling

7. When you’re sweating under all the makeup and stress from recruitment and hope the Potential New Members don’t notice

8. When you can’t remember if you’ve asked a potential new member the same question already

9. And then remember that she has probably been asked the same thing in every round for every organization, so what’s one more time right? Just to make sure.

10. When you meet your rush crush

11. Or your future little

12. When the sudden realization hits that you won’t be able to give a bid to every girl you spoke to each round

13. The feeling you have when you finally take your tights off after Preference Night

14. When you’ve been wearing the same heels 3 days in a row and your feet have HAD IT.

15. When staying up until 1am every night finally affects your capacity to function by the end of the week

16. When you stop everything you’re doing for a photo op--this could happen at literally any moment

17. When you’re absolutely starving and can only think about dinner but you have 2 more rounds and voting to get through

18. The night before bid day when you’re just so exhausted but cannot WAIT to greet all the new members

19. When you watch everyone open their bids and run to their new families

20. When you meet your new members and instantly fall in love with each and every one of them, knowing that you’re new sisters and will have a lifetime of friendship and memories

21.Thinking back on it all and realizing everything was completely worth it and you can’t wait to do it again next year

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
