Dear ________,
My time in England was probably one of the best college experiences that I have had so far. Being away truly opened me up; it gave me the chance to grow as a person and experience so many new opportunities. I am so grateful that I was able to share my England experience with you. You made my time there better, so here are a few things I just wanted to thank you for...
1. Thank you for accepting me for me: I can be awkward, and weird, and crazy at times but you never made me feel judged for that. Being away from home can be tough, but knowing I was with people who I could be myself around made it so much easier.
2. Thank you for being just
as amazed by how breathtaking the architect and scenery were: It would have gotten real awkward real fast if I was the only one "oohing" and "ahhing" at everything we saw.
3. Thank you for doing all the touristy stuff with me: From seeing Big Ben, to riding the London Eye, if it was on some cheesy tourist checklist, we did it.
4. Thank you for encouraging me to do things I was afraid to do: This was a once in a lifetime adventure and because of you I'll look back with no regrets.
5. Thank you for never letting me use a fake British accent alone: The British just sound so much cooler than we do, and besides who can resist using "cheers" instead of "thank you". We definitely pulled it off.
6. Thank you for making bad life choices with me even though we had class the next day: We'll never remember the nights where we went to bed early, but we'll definitely remember the nights where we stayed up and did something crazy.
7. Thank you for not judging when I went overboard on spending my pounds: Did I need that souvenir...no. Did I need that new jacket...not really. Did I need that extra bottle of Strongbow...definitely not. But would I buy them all again...in a heartbeat.
8. Thank you for being just as obsessed with Tesco and Poundland as me: It's like a wonderland of everything that you could ever possibly need, you just can't resist.
9. Thank you for sitting through those hour long classes with me: Sitting through 2-4 hours of lecture, painful. Sitting through 2-4 hours of lecture when you're starving and they wont serve food until lunch, like a little part of the soul dying. At least I wasn't going through it alone.
10. And thank you for staying up late in the library with me so we could finish our papers: I wouldn't want to lose my mind typing up that 2,000 word easy with anyone else.
11. Thank you for always making friends with the locals with me: I am Facebook friends with people who live thousands of miles away to prove that this actually happened.
12. Thank you for never turning down a basement party, pub night, or Kopparberg: When I drank alone, it was sad. But when I drank with you guys, it was a party.
13. Thank you for making the most out of it when we got lost in London that one day: As they say, "a bad day in London is better then a good day anywhere else".
14. Thank you for trekking all the way to Abbey Road with me and not leaving until we got the perfect Beatles picture: It took about 15 tries and boat load of annoyed drivers, but it was worth it.
15.Thank you for being okay with my inner geek coming out every time something Harry Potter related came up: I refuse to apologize for my fangirlish ways.
16. Thank you for never letting me be the only one to wear yoga pants/sweats in public: Cause apparently dressing down isn't a thing over there.
17. Thank you for being my ear to listen and shoulder to sleep on during those long bus rides: But I do hope that picture of me sleeping never sees the light of day.
18. Thank you for giving me hundreds of pictures and countless memories: I'll always remember these moments and the people that I got to share them with.
19. Thank you for capturing all my "candid" moments: Let's just pretend all those pictures where I'm not looking at the camera, but dramatically off into the distance, were not staged.
20. Thank you for listening to me complain about wanting to go home when I got homesick: When I couldn't be at home, thank god I had a little piece of home in you.
21. And for listening to me complain about how I never wanted to leave when it was almost over: Even though we eventually had to come back, a part of me will always have a way reliving one of the best times of my life. With every time I see you, or we have a conversation, or bring up something that only we'll understand, I'll be transported back to England, my home away from home. And that deserves the biggest thanks of all.
