21 Signs You Grew Up In Medford, Massachusetts

Ah, good ole Medford, Massachusetts. Home of the Mustangs, Tufts University, Jingle Bells and Amelia Earhart. Chances are if you grew up here, you have experienced most (if not, all) of the things on this list.

You know you grew up in Medford if...

1. Your half-days in middle school were spent in Papa Gino's, Colleen's, Amici's and strolling through the aisles of CVS.

That is, until they kicked you out for "loitering."

2. You've prayed to Superintendent Belson for a snow day at least once.

And there's even a Twitter to prove it.

3. You almost cried tears of joy when Mrs. Bowler called you out of class.

Everyone in the class was jealous.

4. You have at least one story that occurred at Playstead Park.

And whether it was you or one of your peers, everyone in school knew about it.

5. You own a Medford Strong T-shirt.

No matter if you knew Krystle or not, the news of her passing for such a terrible reason struck close to home. Once a Mustang, always a Mustang.

6. You're friends with one of your teachers on Facebook.

If there's anything good about Medford, the goodness is in the teachers.

7. You will always be able to walk to a Dunkin' Donuts.

Unlike Arlington with only two locations, Medford has one on every block.

8. The only way you can explain where Medford is to people not from the area is to tell them it's "where Tufts is."

They usually respond with "Ohhhhh!"

9. You were obsessed with Tenóch at least once in your life.

And when you go, you run into every person you know.

10. You hate getting stuck waiting for the train in West Medford Square.

"NOOOOO!" screams everyone in the car.

11. You grew up sledding at Seven Bumps and skating at LoConte.

Free skate was THE place to be on a Friday night.

12. You knew the "Ghetto Glen" before it was ghetto.

Remember when there was an Old Navy, Bath and Body Works, Friendly's and more? Now the Meadow Glen is knocked down, but I'm sure you were (sort of) sad about it.

13. You went to football games in high school but never expected them to win.

We had a lot of pride for our team, but the chances of winning were very slim.

14. You went to Colleen's after every gathering.

Softball games, Girl Scout events, practices and more. It was extra cool when you got to go to the special party room where you could actually make your own sundae. Woah.

15. You know someone who worked/works at Salvatore's, CB Scoops, or Donuts with a Difference.

If you don't, there's no chance you live in Medford.

16. You will never forget the cast of characters who were the substitute teachers at Medford High.

Without naming any names, I'm sure you remembered a story or two.

17. Mr. Bruno or Mr. Strange taught you how to drive.

Good ol' Medford Auto School.

18. Medford Youth Soccer seemed to rule the world in elementary school.

It was almost like it was its own political party.

19. You hate when people say "Medfah" as if that's how people say it here.

It's not. No one will ever pronounce Medford as "Medfah." Never have, never will.

20. You were categorized in middle school by which part of Medford you were from.

North, South, East, West, but never forget LE.

21. You'll always be a Mustang.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
