Let's face it. If you're reading this article, you're probably really awkward. Sure you could argue that whole thing about how we all managed to fight through the recruitment process and end up in the house of our dreams. And that’s got to count for something as far as social skills go, right?
On the contrary, after you settle into your chapter and get perhaps a bit too comfortable with the girls/guys in your chapter, your true self starts to shine through. Here are the 21 signs that you’re actually ridiculously and unfortunately awkward.
1. When you try to smile hello, the weird facial expression that you make is seriously frightening.
2. You can’t really chew anything without it ending up all over your face.
3. There are more pictures of cats on your phone than things like friends, food, fun (you get the picture).
4. You’re still not really able to understand that there’s an “appropriate” amount of eye contact.
5. Handshakes are a struggle considering your palms are probs mighty sweaty...
6. Dancing. It’s just not for some people.
7. The iPhone setting that hides the content of messages on lock screen is your best friend. ‘Cause even your text messages are awkward.
8. Small talking takes considerable physical exhaustion (probably why you almost passed out during recruitment).
9. All of your friends made the initial introductions.
10. Silences in conversation are never comfortable. Only awkward.
11. You’ll say anything to keep conversations going, which usually makes no sense.
12. Too many scenes on the show "New Girl" are relevant to your life.
13. You can’t help tripping over your own feet at the most inopportune times.
14. Nervous laughter comes off as sexy or endearing in your mind.
15. You text your friends when you’re right next to each other.
16. You’re not very capable of good sentences longer than a word or two.
17. There’s no such thing as recovering from your awkward moments.
18. Because you typically do something even more awkward.
19. You’re never aware of the latest trends in fashion.
20. Or anything for that matter.
21. In fact, you don't even know that you're awkward.
