21 Reasons Why I Am A Twenty One Pilots Fan

Twenty One Pilots is a genre-defying duo from Columbus, Ohio who have taken the music world by storm in the past couple of months. Their fame did not come overnight. Tyler Joseph, the frontman who provides vocals to Josh Dun's drums, came together with him a little before 2012 as they signed to the popular alternative music label, Fueled by Ramen.

What happened next is what brought on an influx of new fans and strengthened old ones, all together in the Skeleton Clique. These fans understand the allure, and those who don't will after reading the next 21 reasons as to why I am a fan of Twenty One Pilots and why you should, too.

1. Their music - particularly their lyrics, are meaningful.

No matter what the song is truly about, you will be able to relate to it. You will be able to find something in the words that resonate with you or bring you power.

2. Those same lyrics are able to reach a wide variety of listeners.

I've seen LAX bros at their shows, as well as teenagers with their parents - all of them jamming out.

3. Tyler and Josh are good, genuine guys.

Those who have met them, in passing, at a signing or more intimately, can attest to their good-hearted manner to the extent that while performing, Tyler stopped the show to ask that a certain fan be escorted based on their actions towards others.

4. If you feel alone, or have ever felt alone (in anything), you will no longer.

No matter what the reason, their music and presence provide a sense of belonging, of care. Whether it be from Tyler and Josh or from the friends you've made at shows or online, there is someone there.

5. The Clique.

Their fans, also known as the Skeleton Clique, often provide some of the best friendships many of us have found, simply through a community of people who just get it, understand and intend to bring awareness to others.

6. They are sick as frick.

Ya see, you may need a lesson on this matter. But just trust me - when you see Josh backflip off of a piano, you'll understand why this phrase makes sense, and when Tyler climbs scaffolding, you might begin to sweat, but you trust in his ability to defy the odds.

7. They know how to get down.

Just watch this and thank me later.

8. As well as how to tug at the heartstrings.

This cover... well... just watch it and fall in love.

9. No matter how small the crowd they play for, the awe in their eyes is simply magical.

It's the sort of glimmer that brings you back into the moment, makes your heart warm and brings hope into your life.

10. Their concerts are an otherworldly event.

I have been to many concerts featuring various artists, but a Twenty One Pilots show is nothing like I've seen before. It is an experience of which you will have to see to believe.

11. Their concerts are original.

You are included and connected no matter if you are up front in the pit or in the last row on the lawn. They hear you and they provide special little moments by "appearing" elsewhere during the show to make you feel included, like in the middle of the crowd, where you hold them up as they drum.

12. They feature fan art on social media, known as ::.clique.art.::

They see the art we create and they repost it, frequently! And the rest of us have it saved for our phone backgrounds.

13. Josh's Snapchat will have your fingers ready to screenshot goofy, yet lovely pictures.

Every single night of the Blurryface tour, someone has taken control of Josh's Snapchat and posted real, live moments from the shows. But that's not the best part... during the day, Josh posts other things, like the above photo. Take a look for yourself and add him at "joshuadun."

14. Their Twitter accounts are hilarious.

Check them out for yourself: here is Tyler's and here is Josh's. They even do this cute thing where their location is each other's account...*insert crying eyes emoji*

15. This picture... no explanation needed.

16. Tyler and Jenna are literal perfection.

I mean... can we just take a moment to talk about how amazing they are and how wonderful they are together? Their engagement photo was enough to have me wishing I could have the love they have created.

17. Tyler and Josh are literal perfection, as well.

Sure, Tyler may be married to Jenna, but Tyler and Josh are the original OTP. Their love for each other, no matter the number of times Tyler jokes that Josh is out of the band, can simply move mountains. Anyone and everyone should aspire to model their friendships after this one.

18. Their outfits while on stage are like no other.

Who would have thought to wear an alien mask? What about a zipped up skeleton hoodie? I wouldn't have! AND the red TUXEDOS, thank you!

19. Their musical abilities are like no other.

Tyler's voice is angelic. His ukulele skills are unmatched and don't get me started on the keys. Josh, on the other hand, pulls off Travis Barker levels of radness when pounding the drums.

20. Judgement is not a part of their vocabulary.

Trust me, when you see Tyler dance on stage like he is E.T., there is no need to be worried by your own dance moves.

21. Because we are Twenty One Pilots and so are you!

At the end of every show, Tyler and Josh take their bows and while doing so, they say the above. The first time I heard it live, the feeling was like no other. I felt as if I belonged and I did.

As you can see, there is so much to love about Twenty One Pilots. If you are a fan already, you know exactly what I'm talking about. If not, come out to a show, listen to their music, get to know them. Soon enough, you'll be raving about them too. |-/

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
