A few things I've learned along the way.

The Math Less Traveled

1. You're not going to have everything figured out.

It's completely ok and normal to not have your life all figured out. So what if you change your major and so what if you're not sure what career to chose.

2. Loving yourself is hard.

With all the pressure from the media to look and act a certain way, it can sometimes feel impossible to love yourself for who you are.

3. The real world sucks.

People lie, things don't go as planned, and life usually ends up in shambles.

4. Never apologize for being who you are.

If someone thinks you talk too much, too little, or find you weird for being into anime, well screw them. You shouldn't live to please others anyway.

5. It's ok to want to change.

As time changes so do we. We all have things that we struggle with and want to work on.

6. Don't be afraid to speak up.

Never be afraid to speak up and defend yourself. Whether you're in class during a discussion, out with a group of friends, or meeting someone's family for the first time, don't be afraid to speak up and voice your opinion.

7. Love and be loved.

For many of us it's almost an instinct to be guarded and fear letting people in, but there comes a time when you realize it's a heck of a lot better to share whatever you're going through with someone.

8. Call your parents and grandparents.

If you can, go visit them. Call them even if you don't really have anything to talk about. It'll make their day just hearing your voice.

9. Sometimes you have to learn things the "hard way."

People can give you all of the advice in the world, but sometimes it's best to learn things on your own.

10. Naps are important.

Overwhelmed? Take a nap. Bored? Take a nap. Naps can solve a lot of your problems and we all need a moment to recharge.

11. Words hurt.

It's so important to be kind to one another. You never know what someone is going through and something that you may have said in a joking way can really damage someone.

12. Keep your inner child alive.

One of my favorite ways to relieve stress is by curling up on the couch and watching a Disney Movie.

13. Don't be afraid to fall apart.

This is the moment to rebuild yourself.

14. Everyone has a story.

Everyone has a past and I promise you it's worth listening to because it may just help you understand why someone is the way they are.

15. Time heals all.

It may take months. It may even take years. But I can guarantee you, it will get better eventually because you'll grow and find new ways to handle it.

16. You are your longest commitment.

You want to eat that extra slice of pizza - well go for it. You want to move to a new place where no one knows you - start packing. At the end of the day you are your longest commitment so you have to do whatever makes you happy in life.

17. Sing like no one's watching.

Heck, they may even join in. 18. Your real friends will reveal themselves.

18. Your real friends will reveal themselves.

After you graduate you stop seeing certain friends everyday, you all follow different paths, you end up doing your own thing, and you may even make new friends along the way. As time goes on you'll learn that your real friends are the ones that will be there for you at the drop of a dime.

19. Take pictures, but don't live in your phone.

Pictures are so important because they help us to relive our memories and experiences. Keeping a photo album is a good idea because years later you can share it with your children and grandchildren. With that being said, it' important to make sure you actually get out and enjoy the moments rather than documenting them all.

20. I'd rather be 15 minutes early, than 15 minutes late.

Have you ever heard the saying "if you're on time, you're late"? People are more likely to notice when you are late and in a hurry than they are to notice when you are early. How many times have you noticed a professor or coworker give someone the side eye when they walk in late? Your time management says a lot about you, and trust me, you don't want to walk in late and be that person.

21. Live a little.

This has always been my motto for whenever my friends ask if they should do something. Of course studying and your education comes first, but don't spend all of your time consumed in it. Go out, meet people, travel. You only get one life to live, so you might as well make the most of it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
