"2020 New Year, New Me"

Last year, I spent the majority of my time napping. I am seriously not kidding when I say this. This year I am seriously trying to become healthier mentally and physically, so here is my list of what I am going to attempt to do.

Workout:

I know it would be ridiculous to say " I am going to try and work out 3 times a week," so during 2020 I am just going to try to really work out more by doing more simple things such as walking instead of taking the bus to Old Main and going to work out classes at the Sanderson that genuinely seem fun.

Eat Healthier:

Last year I took way to many midnight runs to Cookout, so this year I am trying to cut out eating big meals past 8 p.m. I also am trying to have a more balanced meal, so I can feel better about myself.

No Naps:

Okay no naps is a little bit of a stretch, but I am trying to cut them out as much as I can. So far, I am only allowing myself two naps per week, which is a big step for me. Hopefully within the next month, I can stop napping completely, so I can have a better night's sleep.

Better Time Management:

This year I make a to do list the night before I go to sleep for the next day. This helps me make sure I get things done the next day, so I can stay on top of my busy college schedule. I also make sure to try and do my homework in between classes/ during the day , so I am not cramming the night before.

More Positivity:

I am trying to be a more positive person this year because it makes me feel better about myself. I am trying to have more "me time" this year, and not be surrounded my people constantly. I am also trying to make sure I make a time in the morning for a devotional.

Worry Less:

Last year, I got into a habit of worrying 24/7 from worrying about what I looked like to worrying about what others thought. For 2020 my main New Years resolution is to stop worrying about the pointless little things, and to be more grateful.

I know this list seems like a lot, but this will help me live a healthier and happier lifestyle! Hope everyone can enjoy this list and maybe pick up a few of these ideas to use for their New Year Resolutions! Woohoo New Year, New Us!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
