2017 Is YOUR year.

What are some ways to help make 2017 your year?

2017 Is YOUR year.

How can the new year build a new you?

1. Leave the toxic relationships in the past

This may be a very hard thing to do and may take a lot of time, but in the end, it is for your better. Stressing and worrying are tiring and makes it hard for you to move on. The only way that you can let go is if you remove these relationships, no matter how hard it is.

2. Go into the year with an open mind.

Anything can happen. You could meet your future spouse, get your dream job, graduate school, anything. The world is what you want it to be. This is your year for it to happen.

3. Take opportunities when you have it.

If you get offered a job and aren't sure whether to take it or not, do it. Allow yourself to experience these amazing things and take every chance when you get it. You can experience amazing times and meet many people while on the journey.

4. Be Selfish When You Need To

Your life is YOURS. Being selfish sometimes is not wrong, as long as that is not your holding you back. It is your life and whatever you make it is your decision.

5. Focus On The Positives

If your life is only consumed with negative thoughts, you are bound to be a negative person. Try focusing on the positive things in your life, even if it is small.

6. Allow People Into Your Life

Letting people in is a big thing. There are many times I wish I could go back and reconnect with someone that I stopped talking to. Allow new people in and explore different types of personalities and people. You may end up meeting the best person in your life by allowing this.

7. Minimize Social Media

Social Media has overtaken our society in a way that it hard to stay off of it. Try to limit the amount of social media that you use so that you can live in the moment, not through your phone.

8. Work On Being A Better Friend

Everybody makes mistakes in friendships, but try to make yourself a better friend to allow yourself to be happier with the friendship.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
