My 2016 wasn't so bad, actually: I received good grades, got to explore New York City and started living in my own apartment with my best friend. But, I have no doubt that 2017 will be even better than 2016. Let me count all the ways.

1. I will be turning 21 this year! But yeah, getting older has to make you wiser, right? As long as you are actively working to improve yourself, I say yes. So cheers to getting older in 2017!

2. I will be more organized. I need to set up systems for myself and have a tool to help me. I will use my planner more to help me do so. They have monthly planners and even sections for events and future planning.

3. It's not election year...I don't think I need to elaborate more here..

4. I would like to dedicate more time to being thoughtful to all those people around me that I may have neglected in the hustle of 2016.

5. I want to be more focused. My new planner should help me out with this one. The planner will help me get in line with turning goals into tasks and setting a time frame for those tasks. I want to be more focused on the things that really matter.

6. I am going to set bigger and better goals for 2017. I have not finalized what my goals for 2017 are going to be yet, but I do intend on stretching myself. I want to set one that seems achievable but is also a little scary at the same time.

2017 is going to be a good year. I refuse to go into the new year with hate and anger. The only way to properly make it into the new year is with positivity and good intention.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
