Overwatch
This game was obviously going to be on the top of my list. I was so hesitant at first to purchase the game. I didn't want to spend $40 on something that was going to be exactly like League of Legends, but oh was I wrong. The community for this game is like "a whole new world", to quote Aladdin. So far I've met maybe two people who have raged on me or thrown a fit because I did something they didn't think was correct in the current situation. In League, I find a person like that almost every match and revive many harsh words and sometimes even death threats. Overwatch was definitely worth every penny and I am so happy with my purchase and I will be playing this game for man years to come!
Pokemon Sun and Moon
Now, Pokemon Sun and Moon were really something unexpected in a way. I was honestly ready to get in and replay the same game but with a different region and starter Pokemon, but wow was I wrong. The fact that they almost removed HM's from the game completely was a huge shock to me, and I honestly loved it. It got rid of the need to carry useless Pokemon who had the ability to possess a certain HM or TM moved used to complete the game. Another aspect I really liked was having trials and grand trials instead of gym battles on each Island. It was a new way of completing the game and I honestly found a few to actually be challenging, which was awesome because usually I never have trouble with the Pokemon gym battles. This Pokemon became one of my top 5 favorites very quickly, surpassing Pokemon Heart Gold by a ton!
Mirror Layers
Mirror layers is an indie horror game on Game Jolt. This may be one of the strangest horror games I've seen in a while. It even comes close in comparison to Outlast. What I find to be the most interesting in this game is the fact that you can take items from in the game and move them into a file in "your" world. There is an entire Facebook community that was formed to gain all pieces of the puzzles in this game. Although I do find the story is lacking in many aspects, the overall gameplay is fantastic.
Astroneer
I really didn't know this game existed until I saw a few well-known YouTubers start to play it. It reminds me so much of No Man's Sky, but better...so much better. No Man's Sky's graphics were amazing and such a great concept! But overall, the game took way too long to get into and in the end, it was just boring and left me not wanting to play it. But Astroneer is super straight forward, very colorful and much more enjoyable. I'm very excited to get farther into this game and find out everything it has to offer!
