I have to be honest here, I went into the 2016 presidential debate with pretty low expectations, and I've gotta say, I was not disappointed. Political views aside, could someone please teach Donald that it isn't polite to interrupt (seriously, he interrupted Hillary a total of 51 times). Then again, when is anything he's ever done considered "polite?"
Aside from issues with Trump's overall character, his constant sniffling left many Twitter users wondering if his nasal troubles could be a result of cocaine usage. Howard Dean (former Vermont governor and avid Clinton supporter) went as far as tweeting:
We have to wonder, is Trump snorting lines of cocaine before duking it out with Hillary on national television? And if so, would any of us really be surprised? Regardless, somebody please hand that man a tissue.Later, Trump let this gem slip, " I have a winning temperament, I know how to win." And he wouldn't let us forget it, as he frequently interrupted both Clinton and moderator, Lester Holt, to reiterate himself.
While Trump was the clear loser of the entire evening, Hillary wasn't exactly perfect either. After Trump let slip his most prized personality trait, Hillary took the floor and showed off her "dancing" ability with this little shimmy:
Which may have been the most disturbing aspect of the entire evening. If you can ignore the fact that the entire election seems to be pretty disturbing in and of itself..
If Trump's vocabulary weren't already in question in certainly was after he used the word "braggadocious" in a sentence. The made up word appeared in a sentence regarding Trump's wealth.
“I have a tremendous income,” Trump said. “And the reason I say that is not in a braggadocious way. It’s because it’s about time that this country had somebody running it that has an idea about money.”
Thankfully, Merriam-Webster came to the rescue for all of us peasants whom had no idea what the word meant. Apparently Trump didn't either:
He was trying for braggadocio.
Fortunately for viewers everywhere, Trump did share in an interview after the debate that he, "was going to say something extremely rough to Hillary, to her family, and I said to myself, 'I can't do it. I just can't do it.' It's inappropriate. It's not nice." Wow, thank you so much for your courtesy. Too bad it wasn't exhibited anywhere else in the entire 90 minutes of the debate.
