Take a step back, and really try to analyze the 2016 presidential election. It’s something of a story that could be in a movie. Only in this movie, the country is doomed when one of these candidates win.
Here we have an evil mega-millionaire businessman who has gotten bored of the power he already possesses and has decided to run for office. He runs on a basic platform of “Make America Great Again”, and has attracted fans solely because of the untrue idea that he is the perfect American dream story.
On the other hand, we have a woman who has been doing mysterious things in the white house for years now. She has family ties and is backed by the former President of the United States. Even though she has allegedly committed crimes that should not give her the opportunity to hold a position in office, we still attempt to elect her.
With both candidates, there doesn’t seem to be a happy ending. If you are a logical person, it’s clear as day that neither candidate is fit for the job.
But how could this happen? How could our countries politics dip down so low to even elect these two people as candidates. And how could America have a presidential election like this? The answer is pretty simple. American politics is evolving, and not for the good.
If our leaders from 25 years ago could see where we are at now, they would be ashamed. We are currently debating on whether to vote for the women who deleted classified emails, and then went on to lie about it, or a pig, who told the media to, “grab her by the pussy”. This should not be the case at all. This election has been the opposite of civil. The future leaders of our country have chewed each other up, and made fools of themselves on national television. So why are we going to let this happen? How can we vote for either of these people?
This election shows how much our nation has changed. People don’t tune into the debate to actually listen to each candidate’s arguments and policies, but they turn on CNN only to put snapchat filters on Hillary and Trumps faces. And the sad part is, half of these people won’t even vote on November 8th. People just don’t care about what is happening to their government anymore. The government that has always been so proud of their “democracy” is dying.
So who knows where we will be 2 years from now. Will we still have a president? Will it be the beginning of World War 3? The future is a scary thing, and with these 2 candidates it’s even scarier. So come November 8th, go out there and vote, and then sit back, and enjoy the movie.
