It's a feeling everyone dreads: you're sitting there, minding your own business and doing homework, when all of the sudden you know you're getting sick. What can you do? Go to sleep and skip your work? Take some meds for temporary relief? Schedule an appointment with university health services and hope they get back to you in less than three weeks? Really, all you can do is sit through it and hope for the best.
1. Wow, I have so much to do tonight. Good think I'm being productive!
2. Hmmm. My throat is a little sore. I should drink some tea or something.
3. Uh oh. My throat is now a lot sore. This isn't going away.
4. What did I do to deserve this?
5. Wait, wait, wait...I can't be congested and have a sore throat! It's just too mean!
6. I really need to get lots of sleep tonight.
7. But...how? I have too much to do.
8. OK, I'll stay up late and then just sleep in tomorrow.
9. Oh, no. Now my head is getting all full and it's hard for me to think.
10. This is going well.
11. Not a fever!
12. It's OK, I can just power through all my stuff and then sleep for all of eternity.
13. Drink fluids?
14. ...Take vitamin c?
15. ...Try not to pass out on my work?
16. Yeah, that's not happening.
17. I guess I'm going to bed....
18. Even though I'm now super behind on my work...
19. Hopefully all this sleep will make me all better by tomorrow and I can catch up on work then.
20. *The next morning* How could I possibly feel worse?!
