20 Thoughts You Have During Break

Going home makes people so excited. After all, the holiday season is the favorite season for so many people. Home is a place of laughter, tears, memories, and love with all the people that made you the person you are today. Being home for break is never boring.

  1. FOOD. I don’t have to go grocery shopping. I don’t have to make my own meals. I don’t have to use meal points. Thank you, parents!!!
  2. Thank God for my bed. This king bed feels like a black hole in comparison to my twin bed.
  3. Wow, I missed my family. Ugh, my people. They love me regardless of what I look like.
  4. Shower. Wow showering without shower shoes? Wait, I don’t see the mold my apartment has? It smells like bleach and vanilla. I don’t have to pay for hot water. Why do I ever leave?
  5. Mom, you are really going to do my laundry? Wow, this woman is a saint. I just saved a lot of quarters.
  6. This house is crazy. I wonder if other families are like this. If we had a TV show it definitely would be a larger hit than the Kardashians.
  7. Home friends. Wow, okay you have changed. I have missed all of you so much. I forget how entertaining all of your lives are.
  8. Ugh relaxation. Sorry parents, the break is too short to say I can work. I am just going to lie here…and relax…all day long. I think I will delete ANGEL from my history so I don’t have to think about school.
  9. Stop asking if I have a relationship. Okay, grandma we get it, you and grandpa got married at this time in my life. I wish I had a relationship as much as you wish I had a relationship, I promise.
  10. Why do people think the front door is a revolving door? Seriously, does no one understand the concept of privacy? We probably should stop hiding the spare key in that spot, too many people know where it is hidden.
  11. I am so lucky. I cannot imagine my life being anything else. I hope when friend’s come to visit they can handle it.
  12. Siblings, chill. Wow, I really missed all of you. However, I feel as if you only have missed my car and my ability to drive you places our parents disapprove of.
  13. Home friends, leave. Stop texting me for parties, I do not intend to "throw down." Honestly, why did I ever think it was fun to drink in the basement of a house while the parents watched you leave and judged you endlessly?
  14. Do I really want to know town gossip? I am above that now, right? Nope, no I am not tell me all of it.
  15. I missed my parents. They are so peppy regardless of the hour. I am so lucky to have them, and they listen to my problems. They do not tell me any of their problems, so I am lucky enough not to be forced to listen.
  16. Wow, I need to do well in college. I love my childhood home, I probably should look on ANGEL and get my life together before finals.
  17. Maybe a relationship would solve all my problems. HAHA, no. Why’d I even think of that?
  18. How many days till I go back to college? I kind of miss my college life. It is time to go back now.
  19. Don’t make me leave. I lied. I don’t think I want to go back to college. Yeah no, I do not want to make my own dinner or do my own laundry again. I do have to become a real person though.
  20. Thank you family and friends. You help me, you love me, you annoy me, and you make me want to rush home every time. Thank you for giving me something so hard to say goodbye to, and memories that never fail to make me laugh.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
