Every day should be Thanksgiving for us, so here are some parts of life that you should be thankful for! I personally am thankful for all that is listed below, but for this Thanksgiving I want to let my friends know how important they are. Specifically, the Commuter Freshman Mentors at my college! Shoutout to the people that have made my first semester at college worthwhile: Qasim, Daniel, Tanvir, Madeline, and Miranda!
Without further ado, here are twenty things you should be thankful for!
1. Your amazing friends.
Your amazing friends make your Mondays feel like Fridays. Your amazing friends make you realize how important and fantastic you are! Let them know how much you appreciate them.
2. Waking up every morning
even if it isn't a day full of smiles, laughter, and sunshine--your bad days are only temporary!
3. Music.
Music is our direct way of escaping symptoms of sadness and stress.
4. Your parents.
Because they are loving you for who you are. Your parents are your number one fans, who will always make sure you're doing the best you can in life. Let them know how thankful you are for them!
5. The snooze button
on your alarm, because let's be real, you need an extra 5 minutes of sleep.
6. Your siblings.
The younger ones that you will always be there for, and the older ones that will always be there for you through thick and thin.
7. Public transportation.
Although public transportation may get annoying at times with the inconvenient delays, we should be thankful for our buses and trains for bringing is to school and work every day.
8. Long weekends
because two days feels like two minutes.
9. Poetry.
The uplifting ones, the depressing ones, the romantic ones, and the joyous ones. Poetry is like the lyrics to a melody you have the authority to create.
10. Vacations.
Run away from your chaotic life for a little bit, and enjoy coconut water on a nice Mediterranean island.
11. Grandparents.
They are the ones who will say "yes" when your parents tell you "no." They are also the ones who will make sure you're always over-eating.
12. Teachers
who continue to positively impact your life by teaching you about situations, beyond what is taught in a classroom.
13. Silence.
Sometimes silence can be the only remedy to your habit of stressing over trivial things.
14. Memories
that make you smile on your train ride to school. Memories that remind you that your life is a journey, and that there are plenty more memories to be made!
15. Pets
for comforting you on your good and bad days. Also, for being your second biggest supporters in life.
16. Good books
that keep you cozy with a warm cup of hot chocolate on a chilly winter evening.
17. Nature
that helps you run away from the busy streets of New York City.
18. Surprise parties!
It's great feeling knowing that the people you love put in the time and effort to simply see you smile!
19. Opportunities
to explore your interests, and to help you fulfill your passions
20. Your strength
to push through your obstacles successfully. You deserve to be thanked every single day for your courage and strength.
