Future Female Leader

We may be getting older and older, but as we get older, we also get the liberty of becoming wiser. With that wisdom, comes knowledge. With that knowledge, here are 20 things you should be able to do by the time you are 20 years old:

1. Fill out FAFSA.

If you're in school, you may still be living at home or you may have moved out. Either way, filling out your FAFSA is one of those things that must be done.

2. Order something online.

Whether you're an avid online shopper or not, making an online purchase is sometimes necessary. It is a simple thing!

3. Get a credit card.

Not only do credit cards help you build your credit, but they'll teach you responsibility.

4. Make at least one decent meal.

Knowing how to make at least one meal is never a bad idea. Even if it is just eggs and toast, a meal is a meal.

5. Check the oil in your car.

This is so important. Checking the oil in your car is necessary. Make sure you're taking care of your car! If you can't remember to check your oil, set an alarm on your phone. You'll never forget your phone!

6. Check your tire pressure.

Make sure you're keeping up the maintenance on your car! If your tire pressure is low than you may not be getting good gas mileage! As expensive as gas is, get in every mile!

7. Change a tire.

You could be riding down the road in the middle of nowhere with no service and then randomly your tire blows. What do you do? You get out and change that tire!

8. Pay a bill.

It can be a small bill, such as Netflix but knowing how to pay a bill is important. It teaches you responsibility, and you'll decide what is worth going into debt for.

9. Do your own laundry.

Your mom can't do your laundry forever! Many people don't learn how to do their laundry until they leave home and go to college. If you learn how to do laundry, then you can wash your favorite pair of pants everyday and wear them everyday.

10. Iron clothes.

This may be simple, but when you forget to hang up your plaid shirt that has been folded into a drawer for a month, then you can pull it out and have it looking freshly ironed in no time!

11. Travel somewhere unknown alone.

When you travel alone, you learn more about yourself. You learn what you like and what you don't. You don't have anyone with you that you have to check everything with.

12. Depend on yourself.

By 20, you should at least have had or currently have a job. You should be able to depend on yourself both financially and emotionally.

13. Eat alone.

Have some alone time to sit and think. One day you may be too busy to eat lunch with yourself.

14. Save money.

You should want to save money! For future trips, cars, bills, etc. You should be able to set aside some money and save it for a rainy day!

15. Assemble something.

Whether it be a shelf or baby bed, you can do it! Most things come with instructions, and pictures.

16. Shoot a gun.

Some people may not agree, but being able to shoot a gun is a good thing to know for protection or sport.

17. Nail an interview.

By 20, you've probably had a job. Or two. But you should have gone through the interview process at least once, and now you know what to expect and how to prepare yourself.

18. Plan a trip.

Planning a trip always seems like a good idea, but it is stressful. Plan one, and you'll see!

19. Manage time.

Type A people are always on time; type B people are always late. Be both. Always show up on time to work, and always show up late to social events.

20. Organize life.

Buy a planner. Plan your days. Plan trips. Plan life events.

At 20, you're still young but are the oldest you've ever been. Above all, change the world!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
