20 Things Only Big Sisters Will Understand

When you're a big sister, you're a taxi service, therapist, clothing store, jewelry shop, and so much more.

Being a big sister is so much work, but it is definitely worth it! I love having some one that looks up to me, comes to me when she needs a shoulder to cry on, and so much more. Life would be horrible without my little sister and I'm so thankful for her. (just don't tell her that)

1. You are a personal taxi driver.

It's super great to have car and be able to drive where ever, until you get that text from your sister. Mine always says, "Will you come get me?" or "Mom told me to tell you that you have to come get me." Oh I just love getting those text messages...can you sense my sarcasm?

2. You are a non-paid therapist.

Any time my sister needs someone to talk to I'm always there for her, just like she is there for me. My sister is at that age where she doesn't talk much, but when she does I try to be there to listen to her.

3. You always get in more trouble than your younger sister.

Don't you just love those times where if you do something your parents get super mad and ground you from everything, but if your younger sister does the same thing they just get a lecture? I just love those situations... can you sense my sarcasm?

4. You share some of your best memories with your sister.

When I sit and think of all my fondest memories, they usually involve my sister. We do so much together and I didn't even realize how many memories we were making until I started thinking about my childhood after I graduated. I will definitely miss our rides in the morning to school and around town.

5. You have a forever secret keeper.

Being a big sister is a huge responsibility. Especially when it deals with keeping secrets. Sisters are the only people you can trust with your secrets and I'm so glad I have one to tell all mine to!

6. You share an immense amount of "inside jokes".

Every time my sister and I are together we always come up with at least five inside jokes. I guess we are just that funny? These are moments of just true happiness because we could literally laugh for hours about things no one else would understand.

7. You know you can fight and be besties five minutes later.

The best part of having a sister is knowing you can go from pulling each others hair to braiding it. I will always cherish the moments when we would fight and later forget what even started the whole thing. All our fights have ended in laughter.

8. When someone tells you not to tell, you still tell your sister anyways.

Do I even have to elaborate on this? If you tell me a secret just know, my sister will know, too.

9. When you can't find your clothes, chances are your sister has them.

I can't tell you how many times my sister has gone out of town and when I need a certain shirt, she's the one that took it. What the worst part is usually she either took it with her or it's crumbled up in her room smelling like it hasn't been washed in days!

10. You always have her back.

And she will always have yours. It's an amazing feeling to know you have someone there for you at all times.

11. You always have someone to play dress up with.

I know many of you are too old for dress up, but if I wanted to I could ask my sister right now to dress up and just take pictures for no reason. You might say, "Oh wow that's lame", but I'm pretty sure everyone has had that moment where you just wanted to get dolled up and take some nice pictures to post on Insta.

12. You taught her how to be strong.

Some one had to teach her how to defend herself, why not let it be you? All sisters fight, but sometimes these cat fights can get completely out of hand! My sister and I would get so mad we would chuck shoes at each other and slap one another. Not too hard though, didn't want to leave a big enough mark that mom could see. At least you know, you taught her how to at least scratch someone and pull their hair without leaving too many marks.

13. You never get to choose the restaurant.

When your parents say, "Be the bigger person since you're the oldest and let your sister choose." I just love those moments, especially when you have to eat some where you literally hate. That used to happen a lot until my sister and I kind of developed the same taste in food.

14. You help shape her taste in music... unless you're like me and your sister shows you all the cool music.

What ever you listen to most likely will be put on your sister's playlists, too. A lot of what you do, listen to, say and how you live has an effect on your peers, especially your younger sister.

15. You always get shot gun.

I love those moments when my mom says, "Lauren's older so she gets to sit up front." Those are literally my favorite moments in life.

16. She gets all of your old stuff.

She gets your car, your clothes, your jewelry, your makeup, shoes, books, every thing. Every thing I try to get rid of my mom always makes me ask my sister first. Even if it wont fit her I still have to give it to her if she wants it. And even if she doesn't want it, If mom thinks it's cute, she will make her keep it!

17. You will always have a go to shopping buddy.

Anytime I need to make a quick trip to Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Kroger or any where else I know I have some one to go with me. Mary Kate never passes up the opportunity to get out of the house.

18. Life would not be the same without her, even though sometimes you wish you were an only child.

We all know the struggle of wishing we were an only child, but be honest with yourself would you be the person you are today without your sister?

19. You are a role model, even though she won't admit it.

She is always looking up to you, watching your every move so watch how you're living. You are either a good or bad influence on your sister...

20. Even though you fight, she will be your forever friend!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
