What I've come to realize after three years of college is that the only thing worse than move in day is move out day. You never think moving out will be bad and you never think it will take that much time, but somehow it always does. I moved out of my apartment last week and being the procrastinator that I am, I left it until the last minute. This was something I soon regretted after realizing just how difficult it was. It took me 12 hours to do and the entire time I just whined about how I should've started it all a week ago.
The entire time I packed and moved out, I continually struggled and today I am going to share all of my struggles with you.
1. Deciding what clothing you want to bring home and what clothing you want to put into storage.
2. Going back through it all once you've realized that you have an emotional attachment to all of your clothes.
3. Telling yourself that you seriously will not wear all of these going out dresses at home and forcing yourself to put some in the storage closet.
4. Making sure you stick to your gut no matter how cute you think that dress is.
5. Trying to fit all of your clothes into suitcases.
6. Making sure all of the suitcases are under 50 pounds so you can get them on the plane without having to pay extra.
7. Deciding what clothing you will not need within the next week so you can ship it home.
8. Making sure you aren't shipping too much so your parents don't kill you.
**Ok, so you're finally done with your clothes! Phew! You'd think that you were almost done with packing. SO WRONG THOUGH!!**
9. Taking all of the decorations off of your walls.
10. Trying to make sure that you get all the nails out of the walls without stabbing your fingers.
11. Deciding what decorations you can throw out without crying.
12. Putting everything you own into boxes.
13. Taping the boxes to make sure they don't break.
14. Getting the boxes to the car (hardest part for me and my lack of upper body strength).
15. Trying to strategically place all of the boxes into the car.
16. Driving to the storage unit.
17. Transporting all of the heavy boxes into the storage unit.
18. Strategically placing all of the boxes in the storage unit.
19. Crying tears of happiness that you are finally done.
20. Realizing you forgot to store things when it's too late, causing you to throw out a bunch of things you will need to re-buy next year.
