With first semester winding down, I looked back at the roller coaster that was first semester. Laughter, tears, studying, having fun, and again... more tears. These are the 20 stages every freshman goes through first semester of college.
1. The excitement on the car ride on move in day
This is it. This is my new beginning!
2. Then the nerves set in when you realize you actually have to talk to people and make new friends
"Uhhh hey. Yeah, sooo what's your major?"
3. Having a strong dislike towards upperclassmen during "welcome weekend"
4. The excitement for the first week of school because it's syllabus week!
No real homework!
5. Until that one teacher gives you a paper due next week
WTF
6. But it's okay 'cause you made some friends and you're living the life the first month
7. Realizing midterms are next week and you haven't studied 'cause you've been "living the life"
8. So you cram really hard the next week and hate your life
I give up
9. Getting your midterm grades back and you somehow passed
10. Now that that's over and you can have fun again!
11. You start to miss home even though you swore you wouldn't
I just want my mom and dad okay?
12. You start to realize you can't have fun all the time and the reality of college begins to set in
13. And then the gloomy weather stigma hits you
Just let me lay in bed all day. Pleaseeee
14. And it takes all your will to get out of bed for class everyday
Don't make me go
15. But then- Thanksgiving!
So. Much. Food.
16. Missing your friends when you're at home though
I want to be back at school
17. Realizing that being back means more studying
Why did I want to come back?
18. And then finals roll around and you start questioning why you came to college in the first place
19. But you manage to get through all your finals
20. And finally (though it seemed like it would never come): CHRISTMAS TIME!
