20 Signs You Grew Up In Jackson, New Jersey

Jackson, New Jersey, is easily one of the most interesting places in the world. It's some weird combination of rural and suburban, with farms in some places and mini-mansions in another. Oh, and don't forget our amusement park. At 100 square miles, there's a lot of room for a lot of quirks that you just can't find anywhere else. If you grew up there, you'll definitely relate to the following:

1. You stopped at All Star Bagel to get a pork roll egg and cheese every morning before school.

2. You loved going to Six Flags a hundred times every summer.

3. Until you were old enough to start working there.
4. Even though it’s the fourth largest town in New Jersey, you still had to leave to find a mall, movie theater or restaurant.
5. And after driving all the way to Applebee’s, you still waited an hour to get half priced appetizers.
6. But you’re never more than five minutes away from a Wawa.

7. If you went to Memorial you were constantly mad at Liberty for having air conditioning. If you went to Liberty, you were constantly making fun of Memorial for not having air conditioning.

8. Your backyard is probably just a lot of woods.
9. There’s always a faint smell of weed in the air.
10. You aren’t even shocked when you see heroin needles on the side of the road.

11. The lights of the Hess station (AKA the sun) always woke you up at the end of your long drive home (and you were appalled when you saw it turned into a Speedway).

12. Your dad probably helped build the Jackson Jungle, and your name is probably somewhere on the fence.

13. You fell in the stream trying to walk from Memorial to Wawa.

14.You knew the St. Al’s Carnival was LIT.

15. The Jackson China Buffet was sent from heaven, and you begged your parents to take you there as often as possible (RIP).

16. You always had to park way too far away to go and watch anti-climactic fireworks at Johnson Park for the 4th of July.

17. You’ve gotten stuck behind a tractor on your way to school.

18. You were never afraid of loose tigers wandering around because of the Tiger Lady. You also felt terrible when her tigers got taken away.

19. You don’t understand why people from out of town get excited when they see deer because you see at least 10 a day.

20. You love to hate on Jackson, but you secretly wouldn't have wanted to grow up anywhere else.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
