20 Reasons Why Your High School Best Friends Are Forever

College is a time for new experiences and new found friendships, but what about those friends that stuck by your side since pre-K? What about your homies from day one? Well, even though your high school days have come to a close, that doesn't mean that the lights of those friendships have been blown out. Contrary to popular belief, the light between you and your high school best friends is burning brighter than ever. Why? Well, because they will be your friends for the rest of your life. They have seen you at your worst, watched you escape your awkward braces phase, have admired your beautiful senior pictures and laughed at what your senior quote in the yearbook would be. All in all, they are not going anywhere anytime soon, and here are 20 reasons why your high school best friends are forever.

1. You have way too many inside jokes.

2. They stuck with you through your ugly stage.

3. They voted for you for homecoming queen even though you had no chance of winning.

4. You all still have a part of you stuck in high school.

5. They know too many of your secrets.

6. Their families are your families.

7. Every summer day is spent together catching up on life.

8. They all own that music video you made that is never to be spoken of again.

9. Pictures of them are all over your dorm room wall, so how could you forget them?

10. You know that none of their college friends are half as cool as you, so how could you be replaced?

11. They were your dates to homecoming every year since none of you ever got asked by a boy, so you tore up the dance floor on your own.

12. The distance makes us realize how much we miss each other.

13. The parties you had in high school were weird, but yet so much fun.

14. Sleepovers were the best nights ever.

15. They're the first ones you call when something eventful happens.

16. And they can make fun of you for all the mistakes you've made in college.

17. They have seen you at your worst.

18. Your weirdness is normal to them.

19. Reunions are the best days in the world.

20. No matter what, they are there for you, and you are there for them.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
