20 Life Lessons I Learned From Romantic Comedies
themovieblog.com

Let me just start out by saying that there is a lot of stigma surrounding romantic comedies, or chick flicks. Whenever someone asks me what movie I want to watch, I can guarantee my answer will be “anything with Kate Hudson or Zac Efron,” and I have felt victimized as a result of their reaction.

So I am here to set the record straight and prove that there is more to rom-coms than just the guy getting the girl in the end. Here are 20 legitimate life lessons I can attribute learning to these fantastic, Oscar-worthy movies. Bonus points to anyone who can identify every single movie. If you can, we should probably be best friends.

1. Girls can do anything that boys can. Probably better, too.

2. Don’t ever let stupid rumors get to you.

3. We all need a little help when it comes to turning our lives around.

4. It’s okay to stand up to your mortal enemy.

5. Sometimes, it is necessary to just swallow your pride.

6. Playing games in a relationship never ends well.

7. We can all feel invisible, at times.

8. Getting revenge on a heart-breaker is always encouraged.

9. Embracing your flaws gives you mad confidence.

10. Even when you fight with your best friend, at the end of the day, they are still the most important person in your life.

11. The man of your dreams can be someone you least expect.

12. Growing up is overrated.

13. Breaking out of your comfort zone can lead to incredible things.

14.  You only hurt yourself by pushing people away.

15. You can do anything you set your mind to.

16. If you want something bad enough, do not let anyone tell you it's not worth it.

17. Sometimes, it is better when things do not work out how you expected they would.

18. It is always better to be who you really are.

19. Do not go back to someone you know is wrong for you.

20. Stop over analyzing everything.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
